No, the tray is the area on the right with the different inspector windows. Well, it's on the right by default but perhaps you've closed it so you aren't familiar with it?

If the measurements box in the lower right corner isn't displayed, very likely you need to maximize the window so the bottom of the window isn't dropping below the bottom of the screen.

Under preferences/general - unclick automatically re-render. This still keeps the link, but you decide when you update it.

    Oops, missed your answers here.
I tested once again with generic perspectives and vector view, and now it's ok. However, the photomatch scenes keep on zooming with vectorview in LO - i think it depends on the distortion of axis when photomatching (some scenes have wide FOV). Well, got to test it further, because it would be a really time saving method (even now).

That link doesn't work correctly. How about just uploading the file here?

No worries, Zain. Maybe in the future try using TIG's SectionCutFace plugin.

+1 on the revision cloud. It would be great to have customization. Possibly a tool that links arcs along a path, then when closed options for the revision tag, placement and number. The scrapbook method does not work well for really defined revisions that need to be clouded around notes, objects etc.

    Totally agree. πŸ‘

If you are printing to a good PDF writer (adobe acrobat eg), you can create alternative settings to the default in which to can nominate the downsampling of colour or greyscale images. This way substitution of in model textures isn't an issue!

On Mac I can insert PDF OK, I can manual resize OK, but can't check box to Preserve Scale on Resize once I've got it right. Or uncheck Ortho. Is there a workaround that does not involve getting PDF scaled to suit before insert?

Thanks so much for the thorough and thoughtful help, exactly what I was looking for! turns out my default dim style in my template had gotten wonky. Things are now looking as expected. Thanks again!

As for the scale block, it depends upon how it is made. You could add a dimension to it and then resize it. I've always made my own in SketchUp. Then it's treated like any other viewport.

As for aligning viewports, you can use the alignment tools in the Arrange menu to align by the borders of the viewports. If you're actually trying to get the geometry from the sketchUp model aligned, move the little cross hair thing from the center of the viewport to some corner or edge or something. Then you can move that viewport so that point snaps to a corresponding point in the other viewport.

Most printers printing at that size want the print file at 1:5 or 1:10 scale. I do a lot of billboard signs and site fencing which is a 50m long roll NOTHING will allow you a sheet size that big!

    Hi Marc-

Sorry for not responding earlier. I'd be curious to get a copy of your corrupt file, along with a description of what you may have been doing just before the problem occurred. At the moment we don't have any known issues that would lead to a corrupt file.

    Thanks,
    Marc

Gents - I finally figured it out. I'm using Skalp sections to create these plans and somehow during the last upgrade the correct scene styles got screwed up for the skalp sections. Deactivating/Reactivating the skalp sections and updating all scenes in layout fixed the issue.
    Thx for chiming in.

I think we're talking about pretty much the same thing. As I see it, Layout is going to get the information from SketchUp in any case. Dynamic linking is critical.

What I'm proposing is that the predefined filters, or hopefully user defined filters, you mention can live in a graphic tag with linking power similar to the Label tool. I would like to decide which components are going to be made available to the schedule by labeling them rather than deleting them out of the table. I like to be able to look at the drawing to see the things I've done and find the things I've missed.

My suggestion comes from generating drawings out of Inventor and SolidWorks. After laying out your parts in an assembly drawing, you label them with an automatic balloon tool. Then you can generate a quick BOM of everything with a balloon number attached. Often you are only labeling a sub-assembly and ignoring the majority of the parts in the assembly.

AutCad also has a powerful attribute and table system. You can add hidden attributes to any block but often the most efficient thing to do is make tag blocks and copy and paste them around the drawing. You can tell the table wizard to show you only blocks with attributes, then select only those you want to put in the table.
