      Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to alter the edge thickness of sections once/or before I create them?

      Thanks

      JP

you can go to window - styles and then edit.
you´ll see : section cut width

Thanks for the fast reply, I don't suppose it's possible to get the 'face' of a section to 'fill' is it?

            japes,

            2 tips.
there is a ruby script that does just that. it is called SectionCutFace.rb and you can get it at the Ruby Library Depot:
            http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/SectionCutFace.rb

a couple of threads in the old forum that deal with that:
            http://forum.sketchup.com/showthread.php?t=41114&highlight=section+cuts
            http://forum.sketchup.com/showthread.php?t=68163&highlight=fill+section+cuts

            hope it helps you.

That is a great ruby Edison. I use it quite a bit.

Note that the second link that Edison posted above takes you to a thread that is 4 pages long. The most recent ruby script is 1.9 about 3/4 the way down page 3.

Eric, you're so right. It's one of my favourite scripts. It's so useful, logical and necessary that it makes you wonder how it wasn't a built in SU tool to begin with.

If you don't know where you're going, you're never going to get there.

Wow, I really need to rummage through the Depot again- I'd missed this great script! Thanks for the info Edson.

I also use it a lot - and since it makes all faces of the section cut independent faces, you can later paint them as you wish. A stone wall cut can be stone, a wooden beam wooden etc. Really great, indeed.
I still have some problems with it. As I noticed, with difficult geometry (lots of - often nested - components/groups, layers etc.) the created group somehow tends to be kind of "hidden" behind the section plane itself and I need to move the plane a bit (1 or 2 cms) "off" the group to display it. Then it leaves this small distance there - though obviously it does not bother too much most of the times.

                        Gai...

TIG, thanks for posting it here, too (I already use the enw version and works perfectly) I just forgot to "update" this thread.
