Modlumi - Easy 3D modelling
-
Yes it was ThomThom !

You select all your separated groups say 10 , launch the plugin Groups to Components
You will have 10 Components !
Of course don't know the compatibily of this plugin with version of today but...you can Install SU 2017!
Tested in SU 2017 That works fine!

Groups2Component.zip!
-
@pilou I think I might add this as a plugin.
-
@Krass Very impressive! I will look at creating components instead of groups.

A heads-up from my side.
I will be open-sourcing modlumi. My initial thinking was to build it into a commercial application like Rayscaper with a fixed license. But with all the SketchUp competitors popping up (IngeTrazo, Hew3D, etc.), not to mention all the crazy stuff from Adobe clones, I don't think that makes sense anymore. I think open-sourcing it lets more people enjoy it and actually helps its development by building a growing community around Modlumi.
My plan is to offer it for free as open source, but build enterprise and AI features and add a subscription model on top that might entice paying customers (similar to what these guys are doing: https://getartcraft.com/). If you don't care for that, that's okay; the software is free to use without these features.
I will need a couple of days to scrub some PII from the source code, then I will open-source it on GitHub.
Any thoughts? For me, it's also a new experiment in navigating software development in this brave new world. But I feel the old ways of doing things are dead.
-
I think youโre right.
On the other hand, I truly believe that Rayscaper fits in perfectly; as a V-Ray user, I know I can replace it with Rayscaper for essential tasksโitโs much more user-friendly.
Iโm planning to try using the Rayscaper Scatter feature as a "fur" toolโfor things like rugs, for instance. Other options tend to make V-Ray (or other path-tracing programs) feel clunky and cumbersome.
What really frustrates me is seeing how interior design and decoration training programs expect decorators to master V-Ray. I often end up with clients who need to complete their training using this "over-complicated mess" of a program, and they reach out to me for helpโso Iโm forced to use V-Ray to get the job done! -
Rayscaper will stay commercial. The model is a bit different there. Also, people who don't wanna really want to pay for SketchUp are also not gonna pay for Rayscaper. Different user groups.
-
Certainly.
The principle of subscription-based payments for software is a fairly recent development and represents an abuse by major monopolies in the IT sector. -
Seems Open Soursing the modeling part is a reasonable solution!

For the moment your are the best against the growing number of free others!

For the moment your are the best against the growing number of free others!

I am simply the best

-
With the Multiple Push Pull & SUBDivision you will be untouchable!

-
Seems there is a bug on web version!
We can't go to the computer for load a texture!
Seems the computer is your computer path!
or... but not mine! -
Not Scene - animation of scenes ?
Not Cut Section ?
Request : manage the color of the background screen ?
-
Saw this and kinda smart: https://lnkd.in/p/eNkRruN6
-
@majid
seems it's automatic in Modlumi!
by Boolean!
-
""How did you render this model?"
I make a screen Snapshot (but you can use the Save Image Function of ModLumi ! ;ยฐ
Then send it to free Gemini where you can make any thing you want!
Very simple prompts!In fact modeling is quasi the same than inside SKetchUp !
@pilou
Very nice models and very good explanation.
Thanks for sharing the AI prompt examples.
(it would be nice to see some more from time to time).For a total newcomer like me (I tried Sketchup last night for the 1st time), what are the pros and contras of learning Sketchup OR Modlumi?
@pixelcruncher
I have not yet tried modlumi but I liked the images and videos in the forum
What does modlumi do better than Sketchup?
What functionalities not available in Sketchup?
Will this be opensource or be totally free to use, so being more appropriate for hobby users with low resources?
I am mostly interested in designing furniture and also some house+garden over an irregular terrain (slope). Which software would be more appropriate or easier to learn?Thanks in advance to both of you!!
-
For the moment Modlumi is perfect for make prototype of anything! More egonomic!
If you are architect of course SketchUp is more adapted!Prompt in Gemini can be just half dozen of words!

Of course you can ask more, but if you send an image that is like 100 words!
-
Here is my first ModLumi model. I know it is not much and I have a long way to go but at least it is a start.

Now I need to learn some things like:
-
How to add scenes to a model
-
How to animate things (like show different views of this model)
And of course, a WHOLE lot more.
-
-
@ntxdave
I believe for the moment no scenes / animation functions! Only pure modeling! -
@ntxdave
I believe for the moment no scenes / animation functions! Only pure modeling!Thanks for the feedback. I really like some of your modeling skills. I would like to know how you draw some the things you do. The models look really complex and I do not know how you do it. I also wish I knew French so I could read some of your posts.

No mysteries!

Because i use intensively the functions Move, Copy, Rotation +CTRL + / *N, Xnumber % --> Make component
Select this new component and repeat the process 3 or 4 times or more with memory available!More detailed :
Take a component(s)
Make only One Move Copy, or Rotate Copy Enter for validate this only copy!
Type x7 50% ---> you will have seven components with Size half at each copy!Be reasonable with the number of the "X"!

Select the result Make a component! ETC...
As it's components it's infinite possible variations!
Like this you can make crazy fractal things or terrific graphics volumes!
AT the end send your copy snap screen to your favorite Ai and ask anything you want!!

All the process takes less 5 minutes!
