A hook on a pulley for some sort of crane or something. Based on dimensions given in an old, undated book from Spain of technical drawing exercises.

@Dave-R The hook geometry looks smooth. This is not subdivision....so what is it?

Is it Curviloft - Loft along Path? Throw me a bone....

Thank you! You're right. Not subdivision. I drew multiple cross sections through the hook and a centerline and then indeed, I used Curviloft Loft Along Path.. Good eye. Truthfully I could probably have stood to add one more corss section in there but I'm not going to redo it now.

I wasn't thrilled with the wire rope so I redid that this morning. 6x7 wire rope now.

Really should be done with a texture but it's not.

@Dave-R You'd struggle to get the same reflections that real geometry would produce.

But it's also kind of deflating to know you actually modelled the cable strands.

What people may have missed is that this pulley is needed to pick Dave's wallet up its so heavy!

True. It would be difficult to get those reflections with a texture. But, with a strategically distant camera it might not be noticed.

The cable strands were actually kind of mindless work once I figured out the needed radii. I used Helix along Curve to model the strands.

I wish my wallet was that heavy. Actually it's so thin I don't even know it's in my pocket most of the time.

Excellent job as always. I think it was a good decision to use curviloft rather than subD for the hook. πŸ‘

A model done while waiting on dinner to cook. A pulley on a hook. This is based on dimensions in another edition of the technical drawing books from Spain.

@NeloNath thanks.Time lapse videos really aren't my thing but I'll think about it. I don't think of time lapse videos as being very tutorial-like.
