Please educate me, what is GI?
Global Illumination. Approx GI is taking certain shortcuts to arrive at a result quicker.
So Approx GI + Denoising can get you a result faster when you have to crunch. Whereas Full GI will consider everything in the scene and its properties for a more accurate result.
Tkanks for this info Rich., if is really great to learn this stuff. :thunb:

Years ago when Kerkythea matured into Thea Render I had the pleasure to follow its development up until Altair acquired it.
So having that opportunity a 2nd time is really refreshing. There's so many more new toys to hand these days like denoising, cryptomatte, AGx etc. It's rare as a user you get the chance to see something develop like this.
Normally these projects are done behind closed doors with secret handshakes. This approach I admire. He has put it out there for criticism to simply make it better.

Yes, it is interesting the amount of information they are sharing.

Top notch render!

Rich, looking back at this thread and the information you and others have shared and given your background on render technology, I think it would be interesting if you could put together some kind of document or web site that could be used as by people like me to better understand the technology and a reference for the terminology.
Again, thanks for sharing you knowledge.

Only thing to consider is it has yet to support GPU rendering so expect longer renders unless you work at CERN.

The internet has the info out there. There's not magic bullet that gets you to your target quicker than plain old trial and error. Since your on an older version of SketchUp its kind of hard to for you to test RayScaper.

The latest build is here: https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=76483 - The SketchUcation extension store will always have the latest test build.
I will make a release post here on the forum when a new build is available.
I appreciate your time and feedback! Feel free to reach out when you have questions.
Cheers,

Rayscaper 0.8.10 is no slouch. Loving the UI rework and stability. Plus the speed!
