Fredo6 Plugins - Updating
-
Good Evening
Hopefully this is just a really quick and simple one.....
I have been notified, in Sketchup, that a couple of my Fredo6 Plugins need updating. They are causing no issues at all and work perfectly, but I just wanted to check if updating them is just a simple case of downloading the latest version and then installing it in Sketchup as per usual.
By doing this, does it automatically overwrite the older version, or do I have to remove/delete the older version first?
Many thanks
Mike

Fredo cleans up obsolete entries for you.
But you can also use Window > LibFredo Settings... > Puge Obsolete Files to remove the crud.

It's best to always have the latest version installed.
It's all done automatically when installing the RBZ [or using the SketchUcation-ExtensionStoreÂł Toolset], so you don't need to uninstall anything beforehand as it's done automatically [almost always].
***On the very very rare occasions when a 'clean' installation is necessary, then that will be clearly stated in the extension's posts...
This time it's not needed. In the specific case of the recent Fredo updates...
These updates have mostly arisen because, after many years of sensible consistency, the new MAC OS 'High Sierra' - very ill-advisedly - broke the 'load order' of files it finds in a folder.
As a result, this will adversely affect some extensions which load multiple files, and sometimes the exact loading-order is important...
Fredo has fixed his issues very quickly !If you don't use this new MAC OS, then it's still very advisable to get the latest installation because there might also be a few 'under-the-hood' fixes too...

Thanks TIG, exactly the right answer.
It's a fact that High Sierra forces me to update all my plugins, which I will do in the coming days.
But I also includes support for high resolution screens and some bug fixing. So it's always better to upgrade to the latest version, regardless.Fredo

Thankyou all so much. Thank you @TIG and @Fredo6.
Really appreciated.
I haven’t updated to the latest OS for Mac yet, and I won’t do for a while yet, as everything is running smoothly at the moment. I will now install the updates to the Extensions though.
Once again, thank you.
Kind regards
Mike
