So some where in the near future I'm not going to own any software and I'll just have hundreds of subscriptions I have to pay every year or month. Not liking this at all. Make people pay for upgrades or content on an as needed basis, enough with all this subscription stuff.

The plugin does look kool, but I could own Garry's plugins and build their libraries. as for materials there's built in tools for that.

Have to agree on that... 😐
Like Kris, I'm not a fan of these subscription packages...
Another thing that might hold me back is the "Cloud based" option...
I prefer to have the software on my computer and be able to access it without the need to be connected to the Internet...

I won't rule out anything, but I do look forward to see what this will all lead to...

Just received an email re: Easysketch getting close to launch. Had a look at pricing and although there is now pricing as yet, I'm just not into a subscription based add-on.

              Very disappointed.

A subscription for a plugin??? I don't even like subscriptions for full standalone software. What's next, we have to rent models too? Vote with your wallet. Companies do this because people allow themselves to buy into it.

Well, there it is now on their website. GBP 15 (EUR 19) monthly and GBP 150 (EUR 190) yearly subscription. I can't see any way to download a trial version so far though...

I guess Sketchup has hit the big time now as a number of the plugin developers have set their pricing to the high end and latched onto the subscription model. This is disappointing to say the least. I am not commenting on the worthiness of EASYsketch (which looks to be a very useful plugin) but rather the economic model which appears to generate these prices. I am also not against the plugin developers getting a fair compensation for their efforts but perhaps a better analysis of the expected units sold against the price would illustrate that the price level could be set lower. There are now a number of plugins now which cost substantially more than the yearly fee for Sketchup. This is becoming a deal breaker for me.

What would have been a fair price in your opinion, for EasySketch?
(I have nothing to do with them, I'm just curious, as a developper who's going to charge for his next plugin)

What is fair depends on your point of reference. With regard to EASYsketch, if I was doing kitchen design all the time, their price as presented is fair (even if I dislike the subscription model). If I only need the plugin once a year, then it is too expensive for my purposes. As Sketchup progresses, we are seeing the emergence of a number of plugins which are quite sophisticated and cost accordingly. My basic comment is that if the price was cut in half for some of these plugins, would they sell twice as many? The basic problem is that the pricing model in the past for Sketchup plugins has been that they are cheap. Plugin developers certainly deserve to be paid for their work but they have to make the guess as to the how much they will sell at a given price. Bottom line is that the price of some of the newer plugins is too steep for my purposes.
