Well its good to see you back Liam

Going for a semi cell shaded cartoon look. Going to try a before and after once the scene has been ripped apart with aliens and everything on fire. Might be jumping ahead of myself with lighting abilities lol. The actual image is at 4k and when I compress it I loose a lot of the color and quality . It looks better in photoshop raw than what I can export it wil take some post pro color correction i think.

Credit to Bryan K for the cool wheels.

Just messing with the lighting and the materials trying to figure out the mood I want for the scene.

That looks great

Nice work Liam!

Dropship

Very cool, Liam.
Are you planning on rendering it with colors/textures?
Cheers!

Yes I plan to finish adding the details and then render it/illustrate it.

Quick update

Ha! Hadn't noticed the wheels. (previous page) That was a busy time of year for me at work.
Love the drop ship!
I think I'm about to tackle either some kind of curvy mecha or an old vehicle design of mine to exercise Artisan.
Oh, and how did this thread end up in WIP? Just curious.

Because nothing I ever do gets finished so everything just goes in this one thread.

Lovely.

Bit more work, will carry on with in next weekend...

Looking epic, tons of detail, hope to get a shot at rendering it one day.
One question, are those jet engines not going to melt the tires on take off?

You can render it if you like once I have cleaned up the mesh, as I am only building it with the intention to paint it in photoshop the only renders I need are a stock clay render and another render to capture the reflection map (assign the whole model to stock aluminium in Thea and run for 15 mins through Presto then run both layers as masks in Photoshop. Therefore not bothering to worry about intersections and the like, I am not even working in layers!!! But the plan will be to eventually clean the model as I want to try to animate a landing sequence.
Yes I suspect not only would the tires melt but anybody sitting in the passenger compartment with the door open would be instantly vaporized.
there are four lifting engines underneath if you can notice them, the idea would be that the main engines would throttle right down and only be used for stability when landing/hovering.
