Nice. I do need a new computer. I guess I'll go through these posts with a fine tooth comb and find out how to make that happen!

I received my computer a couple of weeks ago. Nice clean build. It was nicely packaged when it shipped. Now I just have to wait for the new release of Thea to see what the gpu is capable of. (or purchase octane) This was not my first custom rig built, but it was the first with no issues upon arrival. I will buy from JNCS again.

      Thanks,

I'm talking with the management of my company about my new machine. I think I would like to get one of these. Some of you have had a few months to get to know these machines, how are they performing? Have you been happy with the service from the company?

Also, I'm using SU Podium, does anyone know if the software is similar enough to Thea that everything should still be "optimized"?

I also have to use Civil3D and the Adobe Suite ...pretty sure I shouldn't expect any issues there either right?

        Thanks!

I just ordered the one with the 256 SSD. Looking forward to its arrival. Thank you Solo and everyone here for making this happen!

I haven't gotten my PC yet but this should work very well for you. It has a CPU with a high clock speed and good graphics card. Both of these will help SU and your Adobe Suite to perform well. The CPU is quite good for rendering and will serve Podium very well. I'm not familiar with Civil3D but I'm sure it would also benefit from the good CPU and graphics card.

The SSD will help programs open faster. Adobe, to me, is notorious for long opening times so if you open it several times a day you'll notice a difference there.

Mine arrived on Friday. This is without a doubt the finest computer I've ever used.

I am finally ready to pull the trigger on my own new computer system, Today is the day.
I started researching what I would want, and what I believed I would need, in my next system back in January.
Then I found this thread that Solo started, and the configuration matched almost exactly with what I had decided I needed myself.
I sent an email this morning to Adam at JNCS with a couple of questions, and some minor changes that I wanted to consider before placing my actual order.
Adam called me back directly within 15 minutes of sending my enquiry via email.
I am looking at 2 main changes to the 256-680 system.
                (1) I just gotta have the Titan 6g graphics card
                (2) and I am considering a case change to a Cooler Master HAF XB.
And it just so happens that JNCS has 1 of those cases on hand at this time to test out.
It is lunch time for Adam there in NY, so after lunch he is going to find out if all the guts will fit in that case without any issues, and then get back to me. The case is not a deal breaker though, just an a desire that will better suit my work desk area.
So far I am very impressed with JNCS's service, reviews, knowledge, and eager flexibility to try something a little bit different.
The debit card is sitting on my desk, just waiting for the big moment.
Thanks go to Pete Stoppel for arranging a great base price for us with JNCS.
I am pleased to have learned about JNCS through this thread.

                Corey

UPDATE: Done !, I placed my order a couple of hours ago. As promised, Adam got back to me shortly after his lunch break, and reported that everything will fit quite well into my preferred case.
The only potential issue appears to be the availability of the Titan graphics card, they are still fairly scarce, but they are getting one shipped from California, (unless someone else claimed it first?)
So now I get to sit back for a couple of weeks, and Drool with anticipation waiting for this Awesome new machine. And keep my fingers crossed, and pray! that my current machine gets me through the next couple of weeks, it gave me a couple of black screen scares, followed by auto re-start on Friday...

anyone have experience with the firepro w5000?
I am debating between this and a gtx660ti for use in sketchup, vue, and 3dsmax nitrous viewport. not so much concern with rendering, just viewport priority.

Are these computers still available? Probably a dumb question but I figured I'd give it a shot

I have something lined up for next month, a whole new deal with newer setup, It will most likely be with another company that is offering a great price.

This time the emphasis is not only on the CPU but also GPU, future expansion and overall monster at a great price.

I bought a power spec few months ago, specs look close was ~$1500. Has a 2TB disk, the ssd is used for operating system and disk for rest of stuff, w7 and W8 both 64 bit. Set up for wfi hot spot so kids can use when they come over. Took HD out of old PC, put it in USB enclosure and will use it for backup plus it is bootable so could also bring back my XP if necessary. ATX form factor, runs nice and cool

Ok, so now it's my turn to get a new compactor.

I've landed a client that wants high end rendering of large images to 'present' to his high end clients.

What do I need, in terms of specs? I'm a bit of a layman in this regard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what you are using to render the project with?

Then lots of RAM 16GB or more and a good nVidia card like a Titan. Plus a good Intel processor with multithreading.

That kind of rig then is limited by your budget.

You'd be expected to pay $3000+ to build something that will be your device for the next few years.
