Thanks! That's a pretty cool trick! It solves the resolution problem. The 3D map is still missing, though. It used to be that when you grab the map, there would be the location snapshot (2D) and the location terrain (3D) and you could toggle them back and forth. Now there is only 2D and the 3D one is missing.

Geolocation 3D toggle feature removed
Today is the day that SketchUp is no longer using Google maps for their geolocation feature. They are using some kind of third party map company which is supposedly available in the pro version only. I'm running SketchUp Pro 2017. I geolocated a model today, and noticed that the 3D terrain toggle feature is no longer available. The terrain is 2D only. Has anyone else noticed this? This is not good. I live in a mountain town, and I need to use the 3D terrain toggle feature a lot. I'm also noticing that the new terrain is lower resolution than the Google terrain. I'm pretty unhappy with it so far.
Does anyone know of any other modeling software that imports 3D terrain? Is it confirmed that SketchUp will no longer do that?

Mine arrived on Friday. This is without a doubt the finest computer I've ever used.

Nice. I do need a new computer. I guess I'll go through these posts with a fine tooth comb and find out how to make that happen!

RE: Movie clip within sketchup animation
Here is the link to the video I saw.

The model itself is pretty simple, but the animation at the end is something I've not seen in sketchup before. I'd like to do something like that in my own project. -
Movie clip within sketchup animation
Hello all,
I recently saw a SketchUp animation of a theater. It was a standard fly-through type sketchup movie, but when you were inside the theater, there was a movie playing on the screen. Does anybody have any idea what software was used to make that happen? Thanks in advance!
