This sounds like a case of insufficient administrative rights to the Plugins folder. Have you made sure that you have, under your login, all permissions granted for the Plugins folder?

This has been covered repeatedly in this thread.

Yes to the best of my ability and knowledge it appears the rights are set correctly. I do wonder if my comptuer retains these settings though.

You ought to be able to check by looking at the security settings. Post a screen shot of that and we'll take a look.

When I open properties of plugin folder I see this.I click read only green box , then click apply, then select tick box to apply to all subfolders and files, then click ok.
When ever I've gone back to check, the green box is back, but its not a checkmark.

Those settings are NOT what was meant.
You must have admin rights - given them to yourself in the Users Control Panel.
Then there is tab under Properties > Security...
Click the Edit button and give everyone on the list FULL rights...

Hey TIG thanks for your reply I'm on Windows XP home 32 bit SP3. There`s no properties/security settings tab, thats a windows vista or 7 & up thing. I do have computer admin settings which I always log in as admin.

If simple file sharing is enabled, the simple file sharing user interface is displayed instead of the Security and Sharing tabs. By default, this new user interface is implemented in both Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional if you are working in a workgroup. If you disable simple file sharing, the classic Security and Sharing tabs appear, and you can specify which users and groups have access to shared folders on your computer.

Note You cannot disable simple file sharing in Windows XP Home Edition.

Aha...Thanks Fredo6, TIG, & Dave R. I was under the impression Additional Plugin Folder plugin was a work around this problem. Apparently after reading many support articles and threads here, there, and everywhere else, Windows XP Home has failed me ๐Ÿ˜  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307874 no fix or work around available from my understanding. Thanks again for your help.

Can you not fix permission in the command-console?
I think that was explained in the first link I gave ??

At this time, LibFredo6 version 4.9b 19 May 13 is not listed as such in the Plugins Index yet, and the Plugin Store does not list it yet, either. I realize that the database keepers will update this soon, just wanted to report.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Yes, we know - Fredo is changing versions frequently at the moment ๐Ÿ˜’ - once the dust settles be assured that it'll get into both the Index and the Store [the updating is not 'automatic' - it needs human intervention to ensure it's kosher...]

its not working on sketchup 2013.

it says, cannot load plugin Libfredo6 because the script cannot create DEFPARAM_Dir folder

pls create it manually, respecting the case

It cannot create the folder because you do not have FULL security permissions to your Plugins folder... FCS it has been covered in a dozen posts a hundred times...

Since you decline to give us any information about your OS etc then I must therefore guess...
                                          That you have Windows...
If you [with some Admin Rights] find your SketchUp/Plugins folder and select its icon and right-click > context-menu > Properties > Security...
You will find that you do NOT have FULL permissions.

Therefore... Edit... and give everyone listed FULL permissions.
                                          Now everything will work.

                                          I reiterate: ๐Ÿ˜’

This will apply to most users.
IF YOU WANT TO INSTALL PLUGINS [EITHER MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY] AND THEREAFTER HAVE THEM WORK WITHOUT ERROR YOU MUST DO SO INTO A FOLDER FOR WHICH YOU HAVE 'FULL' SECURITY PERMISSIONS.
On your own PC it is not beyond the wit of man to set your security-permissions appropriately.
Therefore fix the permissions to the main Sketchup/Plugins folder...
This is most prevalent on PCs... BUT MAC users need not feel so smug, because their 'plugins' folder in the 'HD' path [NOT the 'user' one] might also need resetting to have FULL Read/Write permissions...

If you are on a business or academic network you might have restricted access-rights to the main Sketchup/Plugins folder. Therefore you must install plugins into a 'custom-plugins' folder to which you have FULL rights... If this is the case, then seek further advice on how to contrive this...

Or you might want to 'centralize' your plugins-folder on a personal network for use by several personal PCs... then again you might need to make special arrangements to allow for this setup... if so ask again...

                                          TIG
