      Hi forum!
this is my second post in this forum, it is a 2 story house in Helsingborg Sweden that we are designing at the office I work [reform] arkitekter...
as well as my previous post, this one is done using free software: Sketchup 8 + Maxwell render standalone plugin, trees and bushes generated using Arbaro...
      your c&c are very welcome

view from the garden, added textures and dirt to the white walls

and after some small changes by the client:

          a little update
          one step ahead: planted trees...

          120914-temp1.jpg

two steps back: my laptop at work could not handle 3D trees and vegetation + maxwell grass, it kept crashing so I had to use 3D grass generated with fur for sketchup plugin

            Looks great!

Would you please share your exact fur settings for the grass?

Thanks Bryan!! I dont mind sharing my fur settings...
I used 6 different presets (fig 1), applied the first 5 to a 1x1 meter square (fig 2) and then mixed all together, the 1 square meter was used to cover all the ground and then used the preset #6 applied to 1.5 m circle and scattered along the ground (fig 3) using the crowd option of the same plugin...
probably you have to play with the density parameters... for the materials used simple solid color with slight variations of greens for each kind of blades...

                Hi novena,
                Nice, clean render... 👍
It follows my design philosophy of 3 colours or it has to be really strong reason to introduce more 😉

                Just out of interest...
What kind of accommodation do you have on the first floor? I assume... bedroom/s (with study?) and bathroom/shower...
If this is the case, It would be nice to see big terrace (above living...)

                • no railings and the introduction of structural glazing as balustrading.
If the client doesn't like it - do it just for the image...

                Nice grass... 👍

                Regards, SU 'beginner'

                    beginner,
thanks so much for your comments... yes, you are guessing right on first floor there is the master bedroom with a study/living and bathroom, first I was proposing a bigger terrace but the client and my boss preferred it as it looks on the image, which should be presented to the client one of this days... I would prefer to eliminate the balustrading just for the image 👿

                    Bryan,
                    you are very welcome...

update, the image rendered at 20 SL...
Some small details to improve especially on the interior.
I dont like the hard shadow of a wall projected on the grass, soft shadows from vegetation would be better.

Really nice... Is there any DOF effect in Maxwell? Maybe it will look a bit better by keeping only the house in tight focus, with the foreground grass a bit blurred.

                            gracias Ecuadorian,
yes there is DOF in maxwell and it is controled as in real life with f-stop, I used an f37 to avoid DOF in order to reduce rendering time...
I´ve been trying to create a Z-depth image using the sketchup´s built-in fog to be used with the lens blur filter in photoshop, with no decent results...
                            saludos

Nothing bad to say about the renderings, looks neat, framed very nice. But I must confess... I really like the architecture, you guys are doing a great job there (in your country).
                              Cheers,
                              Stefan

                                  Hi,
I really like that you added the background trees, they look really nice. A foreground element would have been nice as well for capturing more depth. The subtle dirt detail in the wall texture makes a huge improvement in the look of the render. Placing the building off center like you did in the first image in my opinion makes the whole composition look a lot better. Overall nice renders!

Oh, and nice grass also… 👍

hi renderiza, thanks a lot for your comments... I like to create my scenes with my own background trees to have more control over the hole scene...

hi guys! here some progress, view from the street...
added a bit of fog to capture more depth on the background using sketchup's built in fog, as well as a background image to add clouds...
I'm not happy at all with the hedges in foreground (I will change them), need some variation on the grass as well as the asphalt texture is not complete...

Really interesting watching your project come together. If you can add a little random rotation to the hedge elements you should get better results.

Hieru thanks so much for your words,
about the hedge it has already a random rotation and scaling, instead I changed the plant for another a bit bigger with denser foliage with a planting distance of 45cm (before plants were planted @60cm)

                                          changed the foreground hedge

did a quick PS preliminary study of the lighting for a night time view, the idea is to light up the white walls while the wooden box remains dark contrasted with the interiors light

preliminary study of a night time view
