(solved) cpu slows down with high res
-
Hi.
Maybe you know why my cpu slows down to 20% while rendering 3500x2500 image. It goes 100% at smaller res. like 1600x1200 and it takes about 2hr. my laptop cpu i7 2630 jumps to 2,7 ghz and memmory work 50% of 8gb while rendering and its normal. Render time big image is so long and i got work for yesterday I use latest version of skp and vray.
Help!i set only IM with DMC and the scene has 12mb

have you tried rendering to raw format (save as .exr)?
-
Whith rendering exr file its still about 30-35% of cpu. small diffrence but not help to much:p
I set priority for sketchup process in windows and unchceck the low priority render option in vray. -
do i understand it correctly if it's a laptop?
because then it seems like some anti-throttling policy of the power management, and not an issue related to SU/VRay.

Solve. if i turn off displacement (which was only with one towel) everything goes fast!
-
Displacement kills CPU, use it sparingly. Also, try to get away with using lower subdivs and and a higher edge length. On high res renders you can sometimes get away with an edge of 20+ pixels. Try it out.

Thanks for good advice but in this situation i used edge length 1,0 without 'use global' option to make it real, full of details. Finally for the high resolution render i made it with fur plugin. it looks better i think:)
