Oh my god, from what i hear in this forum and on asgvis forum almost 80% of the people that bought vray have a lot of problems.
Is it my idea or something is not going right? Maybe the guys at asgvis developed a vray that is totally junk?

There are bugs an quirks that needs ironing out, but it's not junk. This version was a complete rewrite of the core - so the whole piping is new.

80% have lots of problem? based on what numbers? people post about problems, never about not having problems.

I have made the switch at my work computer. But I've not made the switch for the rest in my office or my render farms. I'm holding off a bit until there's been a patch or two.

They are working on tracking down the bug reports coming in. These are problems that did not appear during the end of the beta.

The last time there was a major VfSU update there was some bumps immediately after launch then as well. It's the amount of new scenarios it's being run under which did not appear during the beta. But it soon smooths out. As long as people send in their findings to ASGVis support then they will be working on correcting it.

Once these issues has been solved this new version should be a real treat. I'm looking forward to building a component library with pre-setup material.

I could not work with it on my Macbook pro laptop, 2Gb Ram and a duocore 2,4 Gh processor. It crashed non stop even on small models.

But at the office it works a lot better, 4Gb ram and 8core processor. Its buggy alright but I do render images. But the huge speed gain I was expecting compared to Maxwell remains to be seen. I find Vray actually a bit slow to render, especially previewing a scene at rendering. Maxwell always gives me a good preview right from the start of the render. Well, I am not at all experienced with Vray yet so I can't really comment on how well Vray can be. But the first impression is that its capable of very high quality images right out of SU.

I never had the patience for Maxwell. The speed was what made my decision when I was looking for a render solution.

well, different topic but speed is not Maxwell's problem. For exterior rendering, that is to say using direct light (physical sun) speed is not an issue. Only when interior lighting and thus lots of indirect light situation need to be solved speed becomes a problem. But as I found out Vray suffers from it to. And in Vray it takes a long while before you get a good impression of the final image where Maxwell even for very complex scenes provides for good feedback in less than 5 or 10 minutes.

I just rendered a wooden table, texture maps 6000x4000, and a chromium and aluminium light. I made the model in Sketchup and Maxwell showed the result in less than 1 minute. Then ofcourse kept rendering for hours to reach SL 10. But actually SL 2 was done in a few minutes which was really good enough to see what it was going to be. I find Vray not as easy on my patience.

But again, I will explore Vray a little more. It makes me think of Modo a lot in terms of render quality and we almost always render our Modo work in Maxwell.

I believe Vray should take a page from the Modo rendering engine. Allow the user to select a small window of his or her scene for a quick developed rendering of that particular area. This way you don't have to wait 2 hours for a fully developed scene of a caustic effect, which ultimately turns out to be total CRAP. πŸ˜„

The new version does include that feature to render just a small portion again.
