That is odd, there are quite a few things about that picture that aren't quite representative of how the style was working on my machine - but I was using very simple models. Any chance I could test it out on that model and see if I can get it to do what I had in mind?

        Hi Chris
im having a problem with this script, if i try to undo a set of actions where i had used ur extended views in it, i get a very annoying little box with construction points being "unbuilt" as i go through the undos, its like your script uses it to align the axis and u havnt got the script group (or whatevr you ruby guys call it) where it can undo with a single undo, then i tried to just open a blank page, draw a quick block then hit T (for top view), then try to undo the block, then u see the construction points 😞 and way to make ur script undoable with one undo, or have it not feature in the undo list at all

Heh, yeah sorry. I apparently forgot to make it not have an undo show up. I'll fix that.

But you might be best off just to use Alex's script. It is more complete. I wrote mine before he had published his. didn't know he also had a similar script in progress.

              Hi Chris:

Not sure if the following is as designed or something related to changes in 7.1.

If, for example, I click on the Top View icon, the the camera is oriented properly; however, it zooms to the model extents rather than the current display as is the case with SU's native View Toolbar.

My work around is to preselect geometry in the display, use Extended Standard Views, then zoom to the selection extents.

              ==========================

I like that you found a way to use the User Defined Axis. Do you think other scripts could utilize your code, such as Todd's Nudge script?

Hi John, I'll have to look into the zoom extents vs. zoom current context. THat indeed was an issue while testing 7.1, so perhaps their fix messed up ruby script methods. I'll try to look at it today.

And yes, and script could implement the ability to use the user defined axis, but it only works in SU 7.0 and higher. 6.0 does not support it. And it is a bit of a hack. It would be nicer if they built a true method into ruby to access the user defined axis. But yes, it could be incorporated into plugins for sure, like nudge.

EDIT: Confirmed, it doesn't work with version 4,5,6 or earlier. Just version 7. Sorry Pilou and any other SU6/5 devotees!

(Am I SU6 devotee ? Not sure. I just still use it mainly. Why? May be because I'm not found of the actual way of SketchUp development.)

Thank you ++ for this new plugin!! I don't need it for I'm still with Su6, but I Keep it in mind for future.

Any way of making the standard views also force a Parallel Projection switch to the camera ? I've been looking everywhere for a plugin that would do that, but i haven't found anywhere.
Thank you very much in advance...

It's easiest enough to add a shortcut key combo to toggle between parallel and perspective camera settings. That way the tools suit everyone and pressing a key to change from one format or the other is no great hardship πŸ˜•

I know, that's how i am working at the moment. Although the things i'm working on require constant changing from various parallel projection viewpoints to perspective and back, and it's kind of a hassle to press several keys each time i'm changing the view, and i was wondering if there is anything i can add to the script to force changing to parallel each time i switch to a standard right/front/top view, and to perspective when i switch to iso.
Coming from 3ds max, it's very easy there to switch fast between named views with just a single shortcut, and i'm kind of missing that πŸ˜„

works perfect and really improves sketchup possibilities to draw 2D while everything is represented 3D but working with several axes views I realize that it could be interesting to have a way to save the axes position.

Set the view as a scene-tab and then revert to it as needed...

Didier BUR made UCS manager plugin to do exactly that, but i don't find it anymore on the web

I like the plugin because I find that I need to view from the bottom fairly often which the standard views does not do. However, I am wondering if it could be made to use my zoom setting instead of always Zoom to Extent. Since I started using it, I always wind up having to zoom back in to where I was instead or it just "rotating" he camera to view from the bottom.

If this is not realistic, just let me know.........

Just wondering if there are any plans to make this 2016 friendly? Love the plug in, would be a great help.

                                        Cheers.
