Seems to be working now. Not my imagination it was not before. Bizarre. I did not try to recreate the workflow I was doing exactly. It involves a large mesh (1M triangles) and creating splines at intersecting faces. sketchup and computer seems stressed with this. When I get back on it for real, If I have a problem, will let you know. Thanks for the fast response.

Yup. It just doesn't work. I had similar problems a couple of years ago, and was told that 'linux users are rarer than hen's teeth' (I liked that line). Other side effects are that anything that's licensed via sketchucation is, well, not licensed. I get around it by running SU in a windows VM, and have always meant to investigate and debug the ruby... but I've not done that yet. Perhaps someday... Oh, there are also some extensions that are reliant on the browser that won't work. One that comes to mind is cutlist. Oh, and souvenir crashes pretty hard on certain ops.

Unfortunately since SketchUp 2021 is out, you will no longer be able to get a license to SU 2020. Keep in mind it is also subscription now, so you're going to keep on paying for the latest version of Sketchup every year. Stop paying and you lose access to your SketchUp work. Your files from SU2015 will open and work just fine in the latest version of Sketchup. You will have to update your plugins / extensions to ones that are compatible with the latest version of SU.

@Einstein: If you mean by nickname your username, it is not possible to change it as it is the unique identifyer of your account. It is possible to register a new account with a new username. It is also possible to erase the account with the current username but it is not possible to change a username. I'll look into the possibility of increasing image upload size and will inform you about the result.
