@tim said: It looks ever so like a Carver One. So much so that if I were involved in either company I think I'd be talking very firmly to the other about plagiarism. [edit - read more about the venture stuff and noticed that they actually have a relationship with Carver] A friend has a Carver and I got to ride in it last summer. All I can say is Wow! Want one. However, fortunately for my bank balance they're not available in Canada yet. Yes Tim, the USA guys are under license from Carver. They are also talking about having the V1 into production late '08! And at looks like a good retail price, $20K. Not bad for such a complex hand built piece of kit. A Carver would cost me over $40K delivered to Ireland ..... not worth it! But the V1 could be brought in for the $20K mark as there would ne no taxes involved due to the Green policies for hybrids now being implemented here. So just maybeeeeeee Mike

That is funny as someone in my office just this morning told me about the Decrapifier... seems there is a need.

Not free as noted on the site, but I highly recommend Directory Opus for file management. It's an incredible utility that was first written for the Amiga way back....

There's another good freebie viewer/editor/converter called XnView. It has a version for every platform, converts between hundreds of formats and comes in 44 languages (Windows only). A very solid piece of kit.

Hi Guys, When asked 'How much' his answer was 'It's going to be less than a KIA, but more than a 17-inch LCD desktop display' The Kia Rio (in USA) is around $13,500 and the average cost of a 17" TFT is around $500 for a good one. Mmmmmm! It looks like they have $13,000 to play around with. Split the difference $7,000? Mike PS: Here is a link that shows the current line up of 3D monitors, http://www.stereo3d.com/displays.htm

I too have been plagued by the black screen just recently. Downloaded new drivers and followed all the advice from google as above to no avail. Then scotts post reminded me that Id installed a new m/soft mouse months ago. The task manager showed that ipoint loaded at start up, I've disabled it and http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/posting.php?mode=reply&f=72&t=5418# voila! No change to mouse behaviour either. Thanks, and thank god for the forum. baz

Gregg Carlson's Hulls application is definitely a good one. I've been using it for 5 or 6 years. I used it to design the cradle boat I built for my son. I think I've shown it elsewhere so I won't bore you all with it now.

On my PC I have two Nvidia 7900s in SLI. It worked great for SketchUp. Nice and fast. Anti-aliasing could cause problems sometimes (SU's fault) but when it worked it was a thing of beauty. It's the onlt thing I miss about my PC since my current Mac doesn't have ANY 3D acceleration.

Yes it does look nice. Good camera also and that touch screen! I see is will be available later on in the year. On the SE site its only in black. Mmmmm its only a little bit bigger than the Nokia 6300 which I will NOT part with and its the ideal size for the pocket. [image: IGn6_X1.png]

Hi Mike, Why don't you import your 3ds files straight into KT? AFAIK KT can handle xml, obj and 3ds files.

@unknownuser said: BTW, I have not been able to find any reference that this GFX card can be modded to a Quadro card. It cannot be. For my understanding at the moment only ati cards can be softmodded to "pro" firegl.

Some luck indeed. Pretec says thet it's drive is water, fire and bulletproof... I would not suggest testing if your bulletproof USB drive is really bulletproof.

Ok, wish me luck. I have the new router and I am about to call my ISP. If you don't "hear" from me soon you will know I have hit critical mass. I don't forsee a problem however. Edit: The new router is installed and I am up and running. Thank you all for your help and patience with me. And Frederik, I am happy I could be your Peyton Place today

@edson said: i suggest you order it with as much RAM as you possibly can. i suggest you fill it up as well but i strongly suggest you don't order said ram from apple.. they are horribly expensive... owc has been good to me over the years -> http://www.macsales.com/ and there are a few other reputable mac ram dealers out there.. [edit] -- out of curiosity, i compared prices and found apple upgrades an imac to 4gb for $850 while owc sells the same thing for $100...

Not that the camera is that hectic on the iPhone and no video however there are Hackers working on that oversight. Mike
