Anybody use Irfanview?
-
The reason I am looking at it is because it will save an .ico file. Looking at making some custom icons.
I have Photoshop but it is version 7 and will not save as an .ico (at least that I can see). -
i dont use it myself but ive heard a lot of good things aobut it. A pretty safe choice as far as im concerned

Fred,
I use it mostly as a work photo viewer these days [it has a good scrolling facility] but I think it is being overtaken by FastStone as a free image viewer/simple editor. But it certainly can save as a ico file and a lot of other formats as well. -
I don't often use it for conversion but it's been my default graphics viewer for years and I've been very happy with it.

it's a very cool prog for make all operations in serials & batch
(and it's free -
I have been using it as a viewer for a long time because it was faster opening then anything else.
I keep using it because it has a lot of quick-editing options (crop, resize, conversion, etc.) The other feature I use sometimes is the batch conversion mode - it can batch convert (or batch rename) files.
One more is for Pasting a screen capture into. Press (Alt) Print Screen key, then just open Irfanview and hit Ctrl-c.

There's another good freebie viewer/editor/converter called XnView.
It has a version for every platform, converts between hundreds of formats and comes in 44 languages (Windows only). A very solid piece of kit.
