Yes, ever since I've tried it, too (it was actually you, Dave, as far as I remember). Anyway, true that the image quality looks exactly like you describe plus even the SU mouse cursors don't show (just a "generic" cursor can be seen). So far, I have to tell you, YuuGuu is what I'm most "impressed" (well, say "contented") with.

Personally I don't mind new software announcements even if they're untested. Then I can download a demo and see if it fits into my work flow or if it's a waste of time. Everyones needs, work flows, and UI comforts are a little different, so even if an experienced user post a rave review about the software that they use, that doesn't mean it'll be a fit for me. However members posts still do carry some weight as right now I'm having a hard time deciding between Modo and Vue, thanks to solo and his recent gallery posts. Mike

At present i use the standard configuration in Sketchup i adjusted only the speed. Maybe if you use different 3D applications it could be necessary to create a configuration for a specific application which differs from the standard controls. Karlheinz

Its unlikely to make much of a difference in overall performance. The only areas it will really help in are RAM intensive stuff like rendering (large scenes especially), modelling in a program that supports 64 bit and perhaps image/video editing.

I've been wanting to build a home made CNC machine for a while, a rep-rap too if I could find one with a good enough resolution... Anyway, the "printer" up there reminded me of this home made kit: http://buildyourcnc.com/blacktoe.aspx Looks like a lot of fun.

I wasn't expecting too much, apart from MMS. I have yet to really test all features, but what I have seen, it is certainly a welcome improvement.

@honoluludesktop said: The VM is another program that runs inside the Mac OS. Not sure, but it probably gets its OS from the partition. If you run Windows in the VM, it will run alongside the Mac OS, but it runs very slow. Not really. I don't use parallels a lot; pretty much only to run DoubleCAD and some specialised work related software that occasionally needs to be checked. It seems to run at about the same speed you'd expect the software to run on a similar spec Windows machine, bearing in mind that you can set the amount of memory the parallels VM sees and how high a priority it has and even the number of processor cores it can use. A colleague runs Word under parallels rather than Mac:Word because there are a few feature differences that annoy him. Of course, nobody runs Word by choice on any machine.

I'm still using two soup cans and a piece of string. Never have to worry about battery life and if reception isn't good, you just pull the string a little tighter.

I think kwistenbiebel uses C4D... Anyway, as it says, you have to own some other, "related" software to qualify.

Well, the mac did not run windows, and my setup twice as fast. Btw, PC's are not Windows machines, MS doesn't make computers, and a PC will run other kinds of OS. If a Apple is faster then the equivalent PC, it must be something found in the board bus, or some other aspect of the design. I did not get far enough to verify Apple's bios support for the Virtual Machines I use. In any case it didn't seem worth it for me.

Esperient Creator 3.7 has just been released. This release contains dozens of improvements and new features, most of which are designed to make the software easier to use and faster to run. Principal new features include: Dozens of new drag & drop re-usable components have been added including Smart Objects for Navigation, Cameras, Lights, UI Elements, Game Content, Material Changers, Sketch shaders, Locators and boat controllers among many others. Colored and translucent shadows through glass, drag & drop handling of real time reflections and refractions, and cubemap refraction calculations. Unified most popular shaders. Rather than having separate shaders for all feature variations, features such as bump-mapping can be turned on or off as needed. Many new API functions and Scene variables. All new editor transformations. This allows the movement of huge objects (million plus polygons) within the editor without delays. Launch of Esperient Creator Enterprise which includes all of the new functions added to version 3.7 plus support for Motion tracking, Stereo Displays, Networking and Sockets. The software, including the free community version is available from http://www.esperient.com

You could try AndrewS: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/ucp.php?i=pm&mode=compose&u=13365 Im not sure how much luck you'll have, though, as google generally don't work with outside developers/users on projects.
