I am not an architect either. I work offshore on an oil rig as a rope access inspector and use sketch up to create inspection drawings of pipelines, vessels etc...
Whn the weathers nice I get to climb around the structure on ropes.
I only work 2x weeks and get 3x weeks off...its the perfect job, dangerous at times but I look forward to each trip.

Have you tried to change the compatiblity mode as I stated previously? It has somethiung to do with the desktop composition (The Vista visual effects, 3D flip of open windows etc...)

Right click on Sketch up icon, click "properities", goto "compatibilty", choose "Windows XP (SP2)" under the "Run this program in compatibilty mode for:" also tick the check box "Disable desktop composition"

Had a Sony K800 before I turned to the Blackberry 8100. Liked the intuative way menus worked on the Sony and that keyboard looks a lot more user friendly compared to the Blackberry.
Most people I know that have the iPhone have said it great at everything except as a phone.

Would also love an iPhone but contracted to T-Mobile until August. Just in time for the new Sony Xperia X1 have a look at

I managed to figure it out.
I used the Compatibilty Wizard in located in the control panel, changed settings to open as Windows XP and disabled the Desktop Composition
This worked perfect.
The Laptop is a 1.5Ghx Dual Core with 2Gb Ram & 160Gb HDD with shared graphics. Using SU 6. Hopefully this may help anyone who encounters this problem in the future

Got a new laptop running Windows Vista. Now when I try to point at an object it actually picks a point approx 40 pixels below the cursor. I am getting very frustrated trying to estimate where to click. This is only a problem when using SU.
Any ideas?

Anyone had any expirience with 'Pepakura' ? A little program that converts 3D info into 2D paper craft cutouts. I have just found it. I have to wait til I get back onshore.
