BTW I have never seen the word "foosball" written in "American". I always thought you guys use the german word for this but (at least in German) it is spellt as "fussball" (any German speaker pls correct my bad German
).I remember playing this when I spent a semester over there back in 1990 but I cannot remember those so many figurines (we have way less over here - as well as we play on the other side of the table - I mean the player of the yellow goal keepr would be standing on the left side of the picture with the hanles here).
and you don't even drive on the "wrong" side of the road!

A spanish invent
A wounded man in the spanish civil war invented it for children that couldn't play football/soccer. That's what I remember.
In fact, in spain we are very good adding a stick to different objects.
Mop and Chupa Chups are spanish, too.
