    • RE: ISS International Space Station

My department (http://www.atm.ox.ac.uk) made parts of the instruments on the AURA and CASSINI spacecraft: we tested and calibrated the instrument HIRDLS on AURA, and designed and built the passive cooler the instrument CIRS on CASSINI. I designed the in-flight calibration blackbody for the HIRDLS instrument, and so there is a bit of me orbiting at around 800 kms.

Could someone convert the files for AURA and CASSINI so that I can import them into SU8 Pro? It would be fun to look at them.

      Kind regards,
      Bob

      Dear Chuck,

I do hope you are making some money on this. It seems an awful lot of work. The mon-hours must stack up to something horrendous.

    • RE: Importing Plugins from 7 SEEKING ADVICE

I would suggest adding plugins as and when you need them. I would also suggest that you create a folder called 'Installed Plugins' where you keep a copy of what you have installed and with information on the source of the plugin and its use. So, your 'Installed Plugins'folder would contain lots of folders, each dedicated to a plugin and each with an information document. The 'copy' will also show the plugin's footprint, so that you can track down all the files if you decide to remove that plugin. This is useful as some plugins come with a folder and lots of .rb files. When dowloading plugins from SketchUcation I copy the text from the first posting and paste it into a Word document (pictures and all). If something useful comes up in later postings, I copy that into the .doc file too. These are just suggestions, but I have found the approach useful.

      Bob

    • RE: How to protect my model?

What is needed is a method to lock/unlock geometry using a user defined password. Is this something the ruby gurus could implement?

How did you create the last images (roof structure etc). Layout? I like the way the other structures are show in light outline while the structure in question is highlighted.

    • RE: Making mountains out of meltdowns (in Japan)

The Japanese people are quite remarkable

      http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13597670

and this should not be forgotten.

The sums are quite simple. You just add up the number of kW-h needed to power the world's economy and the 'current' need for nuclear power becomes obvious. This could change with political will and a huge amount of investment, but not over night. It is my opinion that we are stuck with nuclear power for the next 30 to 40 years, but I hope I'm wrong.

So, where is all this money going to come from for new technologies? Not from Bahrain I fear. How wacko can you get!

That's really nice. I think tiling should always be included at the design stage, and not just added at the end.

You could tile all the bathrooms and kitchens. That would bring in a few Bob.

    • RE: Would you like to sit down? EDITED

Good to see someone using FEA for structural design. The design suggests that the sections could be clamped front and back as the shapes have flats at the bench to floor interface.
