Has anyone tried to use the LumenRT 2015 trail version with SU 2014 pro??? I can't seem to get the Lumen plugin to show up in the plugin menu. Any thoughts
Thanks

I like it. Performance is very bad due to many objects, but that's what realism requires...
Good job!
Thank you. Yeah the performance is horrible, i think its all the rocks. I dabbled with unity3d for a bit to try and make a game, but that went downhill quick
Thank you again for the help
John
Finally finished my excavator with help from Anton_S and top of the model was done by "Digson" in the model warehouse. Have fun
Controls
Right track - r & f
Left track - t & g
Swing - a & d
Boom - i & k
Arm - w & s
Bucket - j & l

I'm in the same boat. There is an "export to kerkythea" so i'm trying that. I'll let you know

Also can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong with making my track in SP??
Each track piece must be divide into groups for proper collision generation. I don't want to go into details, but here is the fixed model. I hope you can figure out what you done wrong with your tracks by comparing them.

Thank you again. Yes i saw what i did wrong with the groups and the connection with the hinges

Any help to get it to run in SU 2015?
thanks

Why not try the PLE (learning version which is free) and test out for yourself, you have a decent machine so who knows
Yes, I'm downloading the PLE right now.
@Krisidious, Here is what i've done in Lumion trial.
all of my models are made in sketchup of course

Vue kicks the ass of any and every exterior animation software by a mile, only problem is it has it's own lingo, plays by it's own rules and you need so much computer power to run a render in decent time, unless you do not mind rendering for a week to get 1 minute animation, that is why the film industry uses Vue as they can as they use their 1000 machine render farms.
How powerful?? I have a 4790k, 32gb, gtx 980 computer

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples when looking at these programs. Some of these programs are strictly rendering programs. Lumion and LumenRT both also come with components (such as plants, vehicles, characters, etc., some of which are pre-animated) to add in SU. You might also want to look at Podium.
I like the programs with components, Lumion and LumenRT. Just wish LumenRT 2015 would come out already so i can try it out. Do you know of any other programs like Lumion and LumenRT 2015??
Thanks

Don't make to much fun of my model, just messing around to get a feel for SketchyPhysics.
Nice rail car! There are few things need to be done though.
- Your controllers are set to
hinge
in the rear wheels. The commandhinge
doesn't exist. In the controller section, you don't write the name of of the joint, but rather the command -- what joint is supposed to do, when is the wheel supposed to spin. In the controller section, the basic command is slider. Replacehinge
in both controllers withslider("hinge")
. There you will have some sort of a vehicle- Hinges are not good for motor purposes. I'd suggest using motor joints.
- Your rail needs to be covered with faces on both sides, and set to staticmesh, and needs to be smoother.
- Your car needs to be set to convexhull or convexhull2 collision.
I uploaded your model with such improvements! FYI, I purged unused definitions and materials. The model size is much smaller now.
Thats awesome!!! thank you for your help!! that solves the mystery for me.
thanks again

Is your hinge connected to the object ? Can you upload the model so I could investigate?[/quote:1owgtx3w]

@vlkster, are you saying that you wrote
slider("or')
in the controller?
If so, then you got it wrong! The quotation marks surrounding the string must be the same!
You may eigher use a double quote (") or a single quote ('), but you cant use a combination of both.
This is what it should look like, slider("or")
orslider('or')
.
No i did the way that you have shown.
slider("or")
or slider('or')
so i don't know
Ok, i'm having a problem with the control panel/sp inspector. when i name a hinge, using " or ' i don't get a slider bar in the control panel. If i leave off the " or ' than i get a error"script error: undefined local variable or method..."
any help?
thanks
john
Thanks for your help!! I will check out the other ones.

No... LumenRT will only be $1000.00 Lumion is like $4000.
Lumion PRO $ 3793
Lumion $ 1896http://www.lumenrt.com/purchase/
LumenRT 4 Studio + Maintenance US$954
LumenRT 4 Studio US$795
LumenRT 4 Studio + GeoDesign + Maintenance US$2155
LumenRT 4 Studio + GeoDesign US$1795Vue xStream is another option... It's like $1700.
http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_2014_xstream/
LumenRT is your best price for function in the high end market IMO.
That's what i was thinking too. Lumion is super powerful and easy to use hence the price. LumenRT4 hasn't done it for me, so i hope the new one is better. I've tried blender, not what i was hoping for. Same for keyshot. I think when i tried vue, but i didn't like it either. Most of it may have been from my crappy computer, so when i get my new one (i7 4790k, gtx 980, 32mb ram) i will try some of the other ones again, but i agree with Krisidious, that the new LumenRT will be very good and would like to try it.
Thanks again for the help
John
I was wondering what other software out there that people are using that is like lumion4 pro? I've been playing with lumion4 pro, trial and i love it, but i don't love the price. The trail period is up and i was wondering what other programs are like lumion and less expensive? I did see the teasers for lumenRT 2015 and did seem to be like lumion, but it isn't out yet. I'm looking for a program like lumion, where i can import su models and build a town/city, and add trees, water, ect. and where i can move around my models and make a video or render pictures?
Thanks for the help
John

It doesn't, huh? I wonder where you looked up that information.
Yeah that was me not looking that hard and only finding 3.1 that didn't work with su2014, i found 3.5 after i wrote that.
So here are the specs of a workstation i'm pushing for at work.
I'm running sketchup pro, Lumion 4.5, BricsCad, adobe photoshop, and Premiere pro
i7-4790k, 32gb-2133mhz ram, (2)gtx 980, 1000w psu, 128ssd + 1tb hd, & liquid cooling
Any thoughts?
Thanks
John
Ok, so moving on from the 1st question. What do you use to animate objects? I've looked up sketchyphsics, but doesn't work for 2014. i'm looking to make an excavator dig, ect.
Thanks
John

SU is not cad
No offence, but sketchup is a form of CAD, you are drafting with the aid of a computer

Is it possible for you to post your 30 MB model folks can give more detail comments. That size exceeds this site attachment limit so upload to file sharing site and then post URL here
No i can not, sorry, but company will not allow this.
What other programs can i import sketchup models into and render, like Lumion?? Again i'm new to the 3d/rendering industry and i know i'm a noob, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank
Maybe they are not that large. I was able to look at one of the drawings i'm having issues with and it's 30mb. I've learned to make my product into a component, but when i start copying my component(336 times) and try and make that a larger component is when i get the hang ups.
What other software could i use that is simple and easy to use as sketchup? I did see Lumion which peaked my intrest. Could i put different models in that program and mesh them all together? Again i'm new to the 3d modeling side of the CAD world and sketchup was easy to pickup and learn, so i've run with it and my company is extremely happy with the results but now with what i have done and shown them, they want more of it and bigger models to promote our product.
