You're looking to create brick walls where there bricks sticks out significantly from the mortar? You might want to use displacement then - given the view you posted earlier. If you enable Ambient Occlusion you'll enhance the effect in the mortar grooves.

I don't want the bricks to stick out that much really, but right now it looks like in one spot they stick out more than in the other spot. I'd like it to look the same.

Looking at that render, it seems the depth alternates due to indirect illumination on some walls but not others. So the differences are in fact accurate, and the shadow depth across all walls should not be identical.

You want to render on two computer at the same time to reduce render time?
That's what you got the Render slaves for. Install the render slaves on your available computers and use them when you render. Note it requires the machines to be on the same network. But it means you don't need extra licenses.

No, it's so I can work on a laptop back home and then continue on a desktop in the office. Though network render should prove very useful with dozens of computers available!

    • Vray on two PCs

      Hi,

(I've sent this query to asgvis too, but a response may be slow)

It it possible to use a liceence on two separate computers? I've just purchased and installed on my work machine, but like to practice and work out of hours on my laptop back home. Would I really have to spend another £500 to do this?

      Regards,

      Paul

    • Photo montage shadows

      Hi,

I've been experimenting with Vray for a couple of weeks and seem to be getting the hang of interior and exterior shots, but haven't yet looks at creating montages. If I were doing a street scene montage with new light fixtures and railing, what's the favoured technique for casting shadows from these fixtures onto objects in the photograph? Would I have to simulate the shadows entirely in photoshop?

      Thanks,

      Paul
