No3man, Here's one more image showing steps a little clearer. Wish I knew how to do one of those little animated gif's some of the guys do. Sure you'll be smooth sailing after a few tries.

No3man, your welcome. just wanted to make sure you understood the important step was making the rectangle longer than the "egg" before running intersect. Making it a component just allowed me to quickly scale all the rectangles back down so they were flush to the back of the "egg".
Alvis, Your the bomb at all this upholstery.
. If I ever try modeling a car I'll have to get you to do the tuck and roll interior. Just the best !
No3man, Reread my post and was worried you might not understand what I was talking about. I'm not the best communicator
. Went back in your model did the fix again and saved an image. Hope it helps illustrate what I did. So you know I ran the intersect at your scale and it was successful. So scaling up was overkill on my part.

No3man, here's your fixed model back. I think your problem was were all the rectangles met on the fat end of your "egg". Here's what I did....
Broke your model apart made the "egg" a group and the rectangle a component. Scaled the length of the rectangle so it stuck past the end of the "egg".
Arrayed the rectangle around the "egg".
Grouped everything and scaled up 100%. Triple clicked "egg" , ran intersect. Triple clicked rectangle and scaled length so it's flush to back of "egg".
Scaled back down and exploded everything. Double checked "egg" segments .... and Bob's your uncle !
Took waaaaay... longer to type this then it did to fix your model.
pbacot, thanks. understand your point about the lighting. will admit what you see is close to the mood I was shooting for. there's 3 point lights in the room ( 2 lamps behind camera, light through windows and sliding doors ). normally use light emitting panels in ceiling for my work renders and doing these little experiments in the evenings to push my skills more.
Mike , thank you. I think you mean a neon sign of some type ? not to be harsh but no.... not a big fan of neon . if it was for a customer and they wanted purple elephants from the ceiling I'd give it to them. these practice deals sort of reflect what I like......
Mod den I've been playing around with. Wanted to put the mid mod bar I modeled into a scene. Playing with lights , scene views and such. Still experimenting. Nice change of pace from the work stuff.

Mike , think I'll put a 3D man with his 3D mower in there and let him do the work.........
Rich, got to love the "comfy".
Man your killing me with the stuff your posting.
now to bring the bar back down to the level of us mortals......
needed a swordfish model for a presentation today. Knocked this guy out yesterday afternoon. Decided to give subD a whirl instead of my usual approach. I'll admit I cheated a little , modeled the pec fins separate from the body and plugged them in place and left some small finlets back by the tail off. So beat me, I was in a hurry. Still not bad , impressed them in the meeting but hey their not hard to impress....

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Don't want to piss off the cat fans, I'll just say I'm not a fan. Think Rich is on to something, the perfect multi-use table !
What cotty said... also if the object is pretty detailed you might check out the fredoscale plugin.
Wasn't sure if I should put this in the gallery or woodworking,,,,, Cool retro plant stand modeled from an internet image. Of course I had to put some plants and such on it and do a quick render. The plants except the cactus are from solo's plant pack. Thanks solo, some great stuff in there. Retro ashtray was SubD. The tops of the shelves are retro boomerang laminate ( it's actually being made again )

Bryan , JQL , Rich , Thanks for the positive comments . It's funny you mentioned the grass tiling. When setting up the render the tiling was bugging me a little, then i had an aha moment. Looks like they just cut the grass ! Bryan , I'll file your comment on scaling the lawn for future use. The experiments continue. Feel like a mad scientist at times. Proves even a tired old bird can learn new stuff.....
how about not worry about new wiz-bang stuff and just fix ongoing long term issues. Agree with several others clipping is worse in 2015pro than SU8 that i started with. How about fixing the 3D text tool that crashes my models so often I don't use it anymore. One more thing for us mac users, how about a real functional material editor on par with what the windows guys get ? not going to hold my breath.......
chedda , JQL , thanks for the kind words. Coming from two gentlemen with your skills means a lot.
txdave , know what you mean... grew up in south florida , plenty of these kind of ranch homes down there. got pretty fond of them over the years.
