The days of the designer as a chemist are closing quickly. I still deal with ink cartridges and toner, but nothing more toxic than that- nothing to loose one's lunch over
The style we used in the SU images is a default Edges-only with no profile or extensions, simple white background and shadows on. Robert applies a very pleasing style to the drawings before showing the client anything final; similar to the default style above but with extensions on. It gives the graphics a very non-threatening appearance, as though they are still open to change; the power of a sketch.

RE: Models that really work
Thanks guys. Robert and I put in a few extra hours on this one just to get it right.
Here's a little something for Stinkie...it's not a studio set up per se, but it gives the effect of a museum board model.

RE: Another new integrated renderer
It looks like you have to go through hoops before you can render; I find Thea far simpler.

Models that really work
This is a collaborative project. Primarily a Robert Scott Residential Designs project, I was brought in to help model and render. This is one of several successful projects together in which we've saved the clients time and money by helping them avoid issues unforeseen until they saw our model. The detail to which we model enables us to generate the basis for the working drawings- from SU to CAD. And the Thea renderings provided the client a chance to see proposed changes in a way they can understand. We have combined experience with building and architecture and are excited how effective SketchUp is at getting something quickly into 3d so we can spot potential issues and design opportunities. This was modeled from photos, measurements, and some old plans.

RE: Queen Anne Style
Maybe a less saturated or less intense sky would fit better? It's cool to see all these houses together!

RE: Frank Wright Chair
I like the wood chair best but the design lends itself to steel, if you consider the chair's back. Either way, glad to see more experiments! I love seeing people get into rendering.

That's nice!
Does the Thea render add that "Soap Opera" look? (I am not poking fun, it looks good!)
Ha! i love it- that's what i'm calling it from now on

RE: Queen Anne Style
These really are fantastic models and good job texturing and rendering them too.

RE: My Watercolour works....
Perhaps if the floor becomes more reflective it will reflect the furniture and that might be enough.
Thanks for looking at my stuff. I use all kinds of stuff. I love love Thea but i use Maxwell (an old favorite from the RC days) and lately Vray, as well as Twilight when i'm on the pc. I also love Photoshop so i'm always messing around with that.
Look forward to seeing more of your stuff!Okay- i've seen your stuff and wow, great PR stuff there!!

RE: Render this: Kitchen
Okay- i got it to where i like it. 10 hrs + render time in Thea, minor color pp in PS

RE: My Watercolour works....
I like the interior one especially, but the furniture seems to be floating a bit. Nice work.

This is from RenderIn
I like the ambient occlusion quality RenderIn has. I had to unload it because it interfered with SketchUp- every time i selected something and double clicked, the select tool would randomly become the paint bucket tool (i was constantly texturing things by accident)

RE: Frank Wright Chair
See- you model something and it teaches you more than you could have anticipated! Thanks for all the FLW lore and rendering insights
