Happy new year and blessings to all my SU friends...here's hoping for an even better one in '11

Corin-Thea-n
My last post of the year...a fantastic model (don't know who); just felt like running it through Thea and Photoshop to see what would happen

RE: Proposed Housing for Coastal Flood Zones
Ha! Good point! I got so excited about modeling them...

RE: Onion light
Thanks- I used Thea...just blindly poking around at materials got me this! The screeny is on the material used for the mega-glow...

RE: Proposed Housing for Coastal Flood Zones
Thanks guys; couldn't have modeled this as well without Robert Scott. And of course props to Chad Cooper, the architect, for such a clean design.
I have a textured model baking right now- i am excited to show it off soon. The Smart car was fun, but you're right, Scott, as the only context of scale it was throwing things off- so long Smart car. -
RE: Proposed Housing for Coastal Flood Zones
It's probably just me, but it feels like pure SU images seems to have less impact than rendered images on the forum. Like i said, it's probably just me. So here are the rendered images...

RE: Proposed Housing for Coastal Flood Zones
We only modeled the front: the sides and rear are just massed.
ps. Liam, love your work

Proposed Housing for Coastal Flood Zones
This is a project by talented architect Chad Cooper. It was modeled by myself and Robert Scott of Robert Scott Residential Design.
This is yet another successful collaborative effort between two guys working together over the internet. The design calls for a high level of craft in its details and it was important to capture this in the SketchUp model. It is still open to some design changes and it is hoped that the model will help facilitate this.

RE: Models that really work
That's right! I think in the future i'll model a table; that'll give me more control...it's not easy finding a good HDRI with a table just where you want it!

RE: Ithil gallery
I'd love to get my hands on that script you wrote!! if you were to write up or give an audio tutorial of your workflow with that script, I bet there'd be a ton of people willing to pay for that- i'd be at the top of the list! Think about it.

RE: Models that really work
Bob, thanks- this is some Thea magic. Obviously modeled in SU and exported to Thea, then the fun begins. Using Thea's IBL (image-based lighting) one's able to insert an HDRI into the scene and use it for lighting and/or the background image. One step i forgot to do for this was to insert an infinite plane so there would be a shadow cast by the model into the table. So i had to do it in Photoshop. The materials are a stock white and a thin material for the windows. Very fine results from Thea.
