To get the current hierarchy you can use:

path=Sketchup.active_model.active_path

Have you extracted 'su2kt' & su2kt.rb files to the User folder?

If so, the files in the folder don't require admin permission.
Delete kt_path.txt if the 'su2kt' folder. This should help.

• RE: SU 2013 crash with Thea install. Now, no SU2013 in OS 10.7.5

Is 'Thea for SketchUp' the only plugin installed? I doubt.

There were plugins that make our plugin crash: SunPosition, PlayUp, MatchBox .. to name few. I think they haven't been updated since, so most probably they still do.

You have to remove all plugins from ~/Library/Apllication Support/Sketchup 2013/Sketchup/Plugins to make SU start again.

As far as I'm aware, no plugin will work for SU2014 without an update for proper path installation, SU2014 Ruby is also an update, so all plugins must be updated.
So, until Tomasz releases an update, there is no SU2KT for SU2014

If this is true, how are you guys getting it to work?

Fletch is simply wrong. 😡

It all works here. It works even better, because you don't need administrator rights anymore.

You haven't installed the plugin correctly. The missing icons mean that you haven't copied 'su2kt' folder. Do not use "C:\ProgramFiles(x86)" folder! This is why it fails. SU2014 plugins should be installed in the User folder:
"C:\Users<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins"

Check the screen-shot below, please.
Have you installed 3.17+ form Kerkythe website?
Have you extracted/copied su2th folder as well?

When you export and open the exported file automatically for the first time, the plugin will ask you for selecting thea.exe. If you do this correctly, the exported file will be opened and the path to Kerkythea stored in kt_path.txt, as shown in the screen-shot.

Sofie got beamed up and looks all right.

• RE: [SU2014] Install location for "all users"

I don't see it as a big issue for the SketchUcation AutoInstallers.
The 'ProgramData' option is for a purpose, right?

I have a problem with getting CurrentUser folder path, because the installer has to have request elevated right upon start because of SU6-2013 users. This forces the plugin to be installed only for that particular admin user.

Additionally the installation for all users is a behavior that is expected, because it was this way in the past.

Thank you for comments.

I want an installer (exe) to install a plugin for all users. RBZ won't be used.
I will provide un-installer so everything should be all right, since the plugin works fine in ProgramFiles folder in SU6-2013.

• RE: Thea Render v1.3 released

Dear friends,

due to the increased interest for Thea Render and also our just-published Thea for Cinema4D, we have decided to extend our promotional period until 17th February, thus giving 2 weeks for new Thea (generic & Cinema4D) users to get a license at this discounted offer.

We have also prepared our brand new trailer for the new edition, which is - in most parts - a collection of high quality animations. Patrick has created and rendered some of these animations, Grzegorz (author of Blender plugin) the ship animation and many thanks goes to all the users that contributed! Many of you will recognize Pixero's & Massimo's works 😄

Thea for SketchUp has recently introduced few work-flow improvements like Environment Preview, Thea Browser - letting you easily access Thea models, materials and SketchUp content. You can also convert your components into Thea external models without visiting the Studio.

I have found a very weird, interesting and exceptional short film. It is half keyframe animation and half motion capture. Although it has been created almost two years ago, I thought it would be nice to share it here among 3d creative people.

A story about the fire at the heart of suffering.
Bringing together dancers, musicians, visual artists and 3d animators, the film takes a critical look at current events. A mysterious figure travels aboard his boat through a dark and desolate landscape in his quest for inner peace.

It has received several awards:

I am wondering whether there is a method to invoke native PaintTool without bringing in the Paint Bucket window?
I have already tested those:

Sketchup.send_action(21074)
Sketchup.send_action(CMD_PAINT)
Sketchup.send_action('selectPaintTool;')

Grasshopper is a 10-story Vertical Takeoff Vertical Landing (VTVL) vehicle designed to test the technologies needed to return a rocket back to Earth intact. While most rockets are designed to burn up on atmosphere reentry, SpaceX rockets are being designed not only to withstand reentry, but also to return to the launch pad for a vertical landing. The Grasshopper VTVL vehicle represents a critical step towards this goal.

On Monday, October 7th, Grasshopper completed its highest leap to date, rising to 744m altitude. The view above is taken from a single camera hexacopter, getting closer to the stage than in any previous flight.

When watching it for a first time I wasn't sure what was going on. I though it was a CG. 😄

Thank you for all details. It looks it works all right in SU8 and earlier.

@pballew said:

I'll remind you that SkpReader is being deprecated, and strongly recommend that you convert to either Ruby or the C API as soon as possible.

I am aware of the fact. I would gladly use SLAPI for SU 2013+. The solution would be welcomed by any plugin developer that wants to do any form of post-processing of SketchUp view output.

I want to get 2D representation of a current view in a high resolution preferably without writing it to disk, because speed matters in this particular case. If the new function would be something similar to RenderToBitmap(), then it would be just fine.

Their intent is pretty clear to speak about thing that commercial media wouldn't address. There will be several programs available so obviously there will be a choice.

Yes, I do. It is fine. I have to access the visible bitmap at high resolution as fast as possible. I will check the ISkpCamera. Maybe this will give me the required object.

It would be nice to see same functionality in the SLAPI in a future.
