Wow these look aweosme! In my opinion, the thine at the bottom front is too much like a mirror. For the render I use i can choose Reflect Absorb and inbetween. If you can do that, try playing around with that. Because it's a bus not a bathroom. But this is my opinion, as nobody else has mentioned it, i may be wrong.

Yeah, talking about details, aren't these beautiful models really laggy? By the way, can you render your machines? (sorry if you already do this, and I can't remember from when i skimmed through all the pages).

Have fun Modelling πŸ˜„ You should try something like those sci-fi magnet propelled monorail thingies! That'd be quite cool

    • Dinosaur Armour *WIP*

      Hello there! πŸ˜„

I just randomly built some weird intersected then cut up spheres and then suddenly the inspiration hit! Dinosaur armour (this is an ivnented dino) . Here's the tail:
Bad quality because IDX makes .ttif (or something like that files) and saving them as jpg, makes them look bad.

Cheers, c&c please, also, if you'd like to help me with IDX, or advise me on which free renderer to use, that'd be awesome! πŸ˜„

PS: Ohmigod, the inspiration just hit me for how im going to make the main (body) part. 😲

      [EDIT]:
Render is messed up, dunno why, but it looks quite cool.

Dolphus, the colors (for military purposes) obviously are terribly terrible. I mean, the camouflage of red on blue sky is fantastic. (sarcasm πŸ’š )

Messin', the color was meant to be like a stunt plane, nice and bright. Also, i chose it because it showed up nice on render. πŸ˜†

Hello, d12, those tips were worth gold.

The colors made it look much nicer and made the ugly parts dissappear, then I quickly made a fuel tank, and ready I was to be criticised (i hope) by you people. πŸ˜„

      Here is render:

      Here is Gimp'd render:
motion blur. I thought it would make it look like it's moving at Mach 2 xD
Does anybody know how to make afterburner effect in Gimp? And if yes, do you know how to make realistic heat blur for the afterburner?

      Thanks loads!

ps: the top picture (clean render) was much better resolution. Saving it off as jpg, makes it look bad. 😞

    • My aircraft! :)

      Hello,
I actually made this quite a while ago, it took an hour, here it is:
      f15skp.JPG

There reason i'm posting here is because I'd really appreciate any advice and tips to make this better. The model was originally created to show my improvement in 3d modeling. I hope to improve more.

      Thanks πŸ˜„

Wow. That's awesome! When you orbit, does it lag a second before it moves? Because that beauty looks very hi poly! To make it perfect, photo-realistic textures? That would definately look like it is actually a real photo. Stunned by the amount of work you put into that!

      Cheers.

    • SketchyPhysics Missile

      Hey,
I'm building a sketchyphysics missile, and i've gotten it to have a big long white cloud to follow it and that it has an exhaust flame which both don't show up on start-up (this is intended).

Now, once the missile hits something, i'd like the emitters of the exhaust flame and the cloud to stop.
Also, i'd like the thing it hits to explode, (0.5 seconds after colliding) with a fireball, (most likely created by emitters which are on the missile and which start on collision).

The explosion like I would like it:
The explosion would be, the missile is gone, and all the objects in a radius of x(definable in the script) are flung away at a speed of y(definable in the script), the amount of force the objects surrounding it receive varies, depending on how close they are to the detonation. The difference between this and the thing the missile already does is that,

normal: the objects are pushed away and not all are gone, only those that have been pushed away by the missile
explosion: they are thrown away into all directions with much more force.

Also, the emitters for the exhaust trail and flame seem to weigh a LOT. A missile with these is much slower than a missile without that and has much less energy. (by the way, the energy, in what units is it?)

Can one of you script experts help me? I've attached the model, please tell me how to do this, I'd really like to learn πŸ˜„ (with this i don't mean how to make a script, i mean how to insert a script and what to insert so that the effect I would like, happens.) πŸ’š

Sorry for my not so understandable wording,
      Thanks really much,
      Swindel

edit: I have made something that explodes the house really well when i hit b (for bomb) The problem is, i have to press b. How can i make that, when the missile hits the house, the pistons of the explosion go off at full force (and stay like that)? Thanks.
