Is it easier to just DRAW LINES -> Connect them at the angles I need and just use the LOFT command?

update: NOT quite the angles I need but a quick loft shows that this is the best way to have seamless look....but doesn't seem very editable for changes in angles or sizing -- I'd have to re-build.

Sure, but eventually I'd like for the arms to be components. And when they are made into components they need to be MIRRORED. I thought it would simple enough to FLIP along an axis, but it just flips along the axis of the OBJECT...

Here, I'll show an example of rotation AND effect of rotating:

...however, as far as MODELING goes, has anyone seen a tutorial or video on how to connect rods -- or cylinders so that they would all be seamless -- at angles other than orthogonal?

Like if all members were cylinders and they all converge at a single point and they are all connected?

      Thanks.

      ugH...more plugins. ๐Ÿ˜†

Thanks for the suggestion. For right now I'm getting away with just rotating...but I'd rather have these as components as I have 4 of those suckers to content with and the 'knuckle'(?) connecter. I don't look forward to having to modify each of the 4 rods individually.

I'll take a look at the plug-in. Thanks Cotty!

      Win 8

      HELLO!

      BACKGROUND:
      Constructing awning support.
Was able to FLIP the arm on one, but when I make a cylinder and try to do the same thing, I see that it's flipping, but not the way that I want.
Attached is a sample showing how the ROD should flip.

      PROBLEM:
Can't seem to figure out how to mess with object axis enough to actually FLIP the OBJECT like I want. How do I do this so that the ROD will flip along the axis similar to the rectangular support arms?

      Thanks!

    • Texture on Curved Surface

      Hello!

      BACKGROUND:
      SU 7 / WIN 8

I'm having issues with TEXTURE on a curved Surface.

I have 4 curved corners on a building.
Only 1 looks decent though when i applied the texture -- the rest are producing some strange artifacts. (NOTE: I know that the texture in the attached image is showing 8x16 Block, but it does the same thing with 8x8 block - which will be the final texture)
As far as I know, the curves are the same radius

      QUESTION:
How can I resolve this so that it doesn't look all whacked out?

      Thanks!

    • Podium, bug splat

      USING:
      Sketchup 7 (Free Version)
PODIUM (SU Podium V2.11 Windwows 64 bit)
      OS Windows 8 (bleh)

      BACKGROUND:
I'm new to using PODIUM. I click render -- and then I STOP the render when I see what I need to see. That's it.

      PROBLEM:
If I close the file and then re-open it, I can't edit or create anything w/out getting BUG SPLAT. I can move around the model just fine -- but when I try to change anything it quits on me.

So, what I have been able to do is to change the .SKB file to .SKP file and it works fine.
Also, even if I open up the file and try to 'Fix Problems' it closes the file.

This seems to have only occurred after installing PODIUM.

TIA for any information to help me solve this problem...

DAVE: Thanks. I'm almost up to speed! These work fine with SU 2013. Originally I was just trying to get feedback on if they worked rather than do it myself in case I messed anything up. However, I just did like you suggested and I have what I want...in the way of these function.

      COTTY: Thanks for the suggestion!

      @dave r said:

If you already have them, copy them from a SU7 Plugins folder to the Plugins folder in SU2013 and see what happens.

... The only problem with that scenario is that I had them for SU6 on my computer. The new place that I'm employed at used 7 -- and they've been doing everything plug-in free as far at they know.

So, if I bring them in from SU 6 will they work? I guess I can try and see...

      Thanks Dave!

    • Sketchup 2013 + windowizer + make faces

I've finally got my big boy pants and have moved from SU 7 to SU 2013

      BACKGROUND
There are 2 Scripts that I've found to be extremely useful:

WINDOWIZER (assuming that I need to pay out $10.00 -- which is a bargain)
      MAKE FACES

      QUESTION
Will these work with SU 2013? I'd like to know before I try to load them up in vain...

      thanks,
      sub.

๐Ÿ˜ณ ps sorry for the dbl post -- my browser wigged out and thought the post was deleted...

      **%(#FF0000)[------------------

SOLUTION: Just load them into the Plugins folder -- they work!
