Ten medieval architectural monuments were destroyed just in Prizren (South Serbia-Kosovo), in 2004 during mass attacks by Albanian extremists on Serbian shrines, among them was the temple of the Mother of God Ljeviška (older then Notre Dame), as well as the previously mentioned Church of the Virgin Hodegetria. The Monastery of the Holy Archangels was also almost completely demolished. Monasteries on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Shortly after the destruction of the monuments, the Mayor of Venice Massimo Cacciari said it was as if the Cathedral of St Mark's in Venice had been destroyed or any other such important artifact in Italy or France.

It was just 20 years ago when West closed its eyes on the fate of this heritage and it seems like it is in no hurry to open them.

Open source Sketchup. Nice idea. Better core engine, modular, based on plugins, free and pay. Nothing to beat it. It is already close to that concept...except that someone is selling it.

As for me, Sketchup has it all (with plugins). It just needs much better engine to handle high polygon models, real curves, and auto UV.

This is the problem when model has geometry far away from UCS. Correct IFC so all the geometry is close to UCS - do not use absolute coordinates.

You have to separate surface in several groups which does not break, and than use the tools.

If you close the curve around the lake so it is almost offset of it, and than move the lake, I guess it will be ok. You could start with offseting the lake to have a guide.

Even more, it would be nice to have a plugin which helps in optimizing SU model by marking groups and components with colors according to their polygon count.
