RE: Zebra Imaging 3D Holograms
Maybe I was a bit too exited - the picture they show might not be only a photography.
Or what does this subtitle mean "1-meter Alpha Prototype with simulated volume image"?
However, I just thought it is still impossible to project an image into space without a physical volume.
If the buildings could really be seen beyond the film...
...huh, you all knew that its a photomontage? God, I must be naive.Similar to to the holographic projection is a brand new technology that can be printed large like a billboard and viewed from long distance:

Curious if this product will make it into the market. I've heard that prismatic foils are really difficult to get right.
Good luck to the follow-me mega-posters -
RE: 2D Trees in elevation / plan
Wonderful, this is high quality work you are sharing here, thank you!!!
about the shadows: I do not know how exactly this is happening, but I am pretty sure that the reason is the fact that the component axis of the plan tree "disc" is not centered. I tested by exploding and grouping it ---> strage ellipse is gone (see skippy)

RE: A granite rock
Thanks David!
Did I say this before? I like rocks... and I like render-quickies.

RE: Playscapes
Fantastic link! Loads of modelling inspiration... hope all woodworking forum members will see this too.

RE: Modern Interior Design
... magic apples
honestly, these renders are great, Twan! Veeery realistic, only the pink light in the first pic takes away a tiny bit of realism - ... might be my laptop monitor though.
congratulations!

RE: Texturing along an arc'd surface
Hello Dave,
Can you post a screenshot as an example? Maybe it's my english, but I don't fully understand your description.
Have you tried to work with UVTools plugin already?
http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=23725&hilit=UVtoolsor maybe this workflow can help?

RE: My first post in the forum: two buildings
Bryan said it, very good images indeed, espeially the last one! (I really like detail shots.)
Like Oli I would recommend Twilight too, it has a very helpful forum as well. Also there are quite a few discussions on SU integrated render apps in the extensions forum here at SCF. -
RE: My first post in the forum: two buildings
Oh, somehow I missed your second post (daughter keeping me busy, she can't sleep cause it is too hot tonight)
With the shadows you are right, but I like the overall look (and the improvement on the foliage )
Does IDX not support soft shadows? What about some reflections for the windows? -
RE: Google Gravity ;-)
Oh man, this is so cool! Looks exactly like the stuff I've always expected from Photoshop brushes, but never found.
Thanks for sharingSome time ago I found this beautiful tool out there: http://www.zefrank.com/scribbler/
spent a whole night on it, lol. -
RE: My first post in the forum: two buildings
Hello Ivan, welcome to SCF!
I always love to see pure SketchUp output. Sorry that I can't comment on the architecture, but what I see looks really professional to me.
Very often it happens that foliage from 3D trees looks unrealistic because the leaves are far too big.
(a deciduous tree has an average number of 30k leaves - many models have much less to keep number of polygons down.)
I'd say the leaves of a birch tree should not be bigger than for example the logo of the Porsche - surely not as big as a human head.
Maybe you can find some other tree model in the 3D warehouse. It could also give your entourage some more individuality, because this particular birch you are using is one of t h e standard components that was seen a million times already.I like the movement of the pigeons, but somehow they seem to block the depth of the picture. People, trees and birds look like they are all in one layer... i would let birds fly in the sky over the buildings to draw the eye more into your composition.
cheers + keep posting

RE: Sculpture_updated
yep, wish I could find the time to learn how to make my own rocks. I once modeled a human head and used the new UV Tools plugin to do the unwrapping. worked pretty good to model from photos and use the same photos to paint the UV-map. (When using other pictures on the same model it failed miserably.)
hm, I wonder if this can work on rocks too. Is your tutorial out already? -
RE: Spy in the sky
haha, if you want, the two significantly different shapes of the aircrafts give a lot of room for interpretation towards their constructors.
this is really smart technology, very interesting!

Haha, Colossos looks great! Thanks for the model, I am a huge fan of your rocks

RE: Importing SVG
Does that mean it is very likely to risk conflicts when installing svg.rb?
I'd love to have vectors from Inkscape imported, but I don't want to mess up my plugins...

RE: [Plugin] Superellipsoid 1.0
Great! This is very useful and fun too. Thanks a lot!

RE: Selecting from an image?
Dear Aerilius,
this is an interesting workflow, I'd like to make it work for me too. Unfortunately I don't get the svg.rb to work. It needs some other ruby scripts that are not specifically SU related (I think). At this point my knowledge ends... maybe some ruby-wizard can help us out here?
all I get is this:Error Loading File svg.rb
No such file to load -- rexml/parsers/pullparser.rbYes, admitted - apart from copying ruby files to the plugins folder I don't have much clue.
Also I have tried to export vectors from Inkscape to DXF format to import into SketchUp, but SU splats/crashes immediately. any experience with that? Maybe I have to perform a conversion before exporting... dunno much about Inkscape either.
