    • [Plugin] Multiple Offsets (Updated 09-Feb-2014)

      In response to http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=43426

One last update. Addressed problem of possible conflict with other plugins
and fixed a bug when using a delta values list with multiple faces.

Select one or more faces. Run the plugin and select one of three offset methods.

Constant: Input number of offsets, distance between offsets, direction to
offset, either inside, outside, or both, and whether the selected face(s) and all
created faces are to be deleted, select No to keep faces.

Formula: Enter number of offsets, distance to first offset, direction to offset,
delete faces Yes or No, select operator + or *, and value to add or multiply by.

List: Select direction of offsets, delete faces Yes or No, a list of offsets
separated by commas, choose type of offset either absolute or a delta value
to be added to the last offset value. If the offsets are a repeated sequence,
end the list with *X, where X = the number of repetitions for the offset
      sequence entered.

In one test case, the offsets were placed opposite of the direction setting. Why this occurred is still a mystery. The simple solution is to undo, rerun and choose the opposite direction.

Of course that's the nature of components. Editing one changes all. Before using Bolt Maker, right click on each and choose "Make Unique". Groups don't have that problem.

      Thank you very much.
      just some suggestions.

Both the funsion does not work.
There is an error in the offset circles or polygons.
When I select one line, the tool does not work. It only works with faces.

      and an order.
It is possible that the offset is also a curve. now exploits the geometry?
You can add the option to create faces?

      thank you very much

Yes, the plugin only works with faces. trying to sort out the order and directions of an endless number of line segments was just not worth the effort when Sketchup solves that problem with a face. The plugin erases the original and all faces created with the offset process.

This plugin was quick and dirty exercise and has had limited testing and may not be able to work with every shape and offset you may come up with so 'keep it real'. When I have had a chance to throughly test and check it out, I will post it. As for now, please consider this a work in progress.

    • [Plugin] Generate Ceiling Grid (Updated 27-Mar-2014)

      Now SU2014 compatible.

In response to the request of tspco

      http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=43332

      THE FINAL FINAL UPDATE

Version V Option to create the ceiling tiles added. Added 4X4 size option. Removed the gap
between the cross pieces and main grid members. A few tweaks to hopefully cure the problem
      of reversed tiles.

      [flash=640,480:1h7wn4uh]http://www.youtube.com/v/Wbt2kN9gmXg[/flash:1h7wn4uh]

Version IV Corrected selection of longest side and fixed a bug caused by the rotate option.

Version III Option added to use "center" of the face as the grid origin and a "rotate" option if the default orientation is not what you want.

Select a rectangular face that represents the limits of the ceiling grid to be generated. Run plugin and choose tile size either 2X2' or 2X4', the grid origin either corner or center, and rotate yes or no.

Selected face is replaced by generated "tee" grid. The individual members of the grid are components and all are contained in a group.

The grid starts in the corner defined by the longest pair of sides if corner option is selected and is oriented parallel and perpendicular to the longest edge.
Please get the latest version from the PluginStorehttp://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=Generate_Ceiling_Grid

      @newrui said:

Hello sdmitch, just wanted to thank you for such a great plugin! Would you please consider continuous handrails for u-shaped stairs in your next version?

By continuous, do you mean without breaks or that it should be a single entity rather than segments? The rail is added to the stairs as a single entity curve but Sketchup breaks it into segments between the vertical "supports".

I'm assuming you mean the latter since it would only require the addition of one or two edges to make it unbroken. Please clarify.

    • RE: [Plugin] Bolt Maker (Final Update 7-Feb-2012)

To all Bolt Maker users: Bolt Maker XII - The final edition has been posted. It corrects the problem with multiple entry and exit point on any given group or component. It even allows and handles non-parallel faces. A fixed length option has been added so that bolts that do not require a nut can be placed. Check out the updated tutorial for further clarification.

      did this ever got resolved?

Apparently not, at least as far as the free version of Sketchup is concerned. The Reset Scale option is available in the context menu if only one component is selected.

You are welcome to try my plugin, Scale Reset, which seems to have been the solution for the problem liquid98 had.

    • RE: [Plugin] Bolt Maker (Final Update 7-Feb-2012)

The problem with the "thread" is the shape of the bottom group. The bolt has to go in and out of the group twice and does not find the faces in a top down order thus causing the problem. I am aware of the problem and I'm working on it.

axys, at present the angular increment for spiral stairs is fixed at 15 degrees. I will need to make that an option. for now, I have attached a spiral stair with 16 steps @ 22.5 degree increment and 800mm wide.

g_, the message you mentioned should only occur if the projected face does not completely fall on the face being projected to. It's an all or none.

g_wilson, Please download and try the new version. When I created the plugin, I tested it only to satisfy the criterior of the requestor. The new version corrects the problem caused by non-parallel faces. The only problem that I'm aware of at the moment is when the selected face only partially falls on the face projected to.

boiling, yes I am constantly re-inventing the wheel. Case in point TIG's Extrude Edges by Vector and Extrude Edges by Vector to Object.

The edge should always be drawn from the selected face to the opposite end of the beam. The faces projected from and projected to are assummed to be parallel in the current version.

      Hi sdmitch,

Is it possible to expect other kind of head such as Phillips, Torx, countersunk?

Another thing could be to give an entry field for length as screws normally match to standard lentgh. I suppose it would be very difficult to embed lengths table....

      Regards,
      Alain

As the name implies, Bolt Maker makes bolts not screws. I'll leave that one for someone else.

    • [Plugin] Project Beam (Update)

Yes, an update already. Made changes so that the face defining the cross-section of the beam is truly projected first. Faces projected to or from do not have to be vertical. If projection is not possible then the beam is made the length of the direction edge.

      http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=42527&p=378752#p378752

If you need to construct a beam between vertical faces along a inclined line, Followme insists on making the face perpendicular to the edge to be followed so the beam has square ends instead of the angled ones needed. Project Beam solves that problem by projecting the points of the face from one vertical face to the other using the edge to determine vector and distance.
