    • RE: Looking for Rewiews

Keep in mind you are asking people's Subjective views on Vray. For example, I used to use Podium and loved it, it was quick, it was simple, very easy to learn. Vray on the other hand, is very powerful (as noted not as powerful as it could be with missing features and all) but also a lot more complicated to get started. When I first tried Vray I hated it because my renderings with it were worse than what I could achieve in the same amount of time with Podium. Now that I have a better grasp of Vray I prefer it over Podium.

Oh and as far as I know, Vray for SU still only uses CPU except in cases of RT Rendering which is still buggy (correct me if I'm wrong on this).

And yes, you can use double sided material (transparent on the top, opaque on the bottom) and use that as a Faux ceiling for your units.

    • RE: PLS HELP: My Render Going To Error

Make sure if you are using displacement on the floor that it is grouped by itself, otherwise Vray will attempt to bleed the displacement onto everything that touches that face.

I haven't tried it myself. But could you change the image opacity to 75% in Photoshop, save it as a PNG then use that in Vray?

    • RE: V-Ray pixilated rendering

Also by the looks of your Frame Buffer it's zoomed in 800% which is why its so blurry. If you click on your Frame Buffer window and use the scroll wheel to zoom back out to 100% is it still blurry?

    • RE: Sketchup V-Ray Building Light Cache issue

One other option to try would be to copy-paste your model into a brand new file. Perhaps something happened and the file got corrupted.

Can you post an image of your scene so we can get a sense of what you are trying to render? They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

So the first time you posted a question Cotty answered you in around 3min. This time you posted something a day ago and you are frustrated that you get no help at all? Please keep in mind that we are here because we want to help people, but this is not our jobs. If you are that desperate to get an answer perhaps contacting Vray support directly. Be patient, this is a great forum and one of the most helpful communities I have ever seen.

      Thank you,

    • RE: Sketchup V-Ray Building Light Cache issue

Well the obvious answer would be that your materials are the culprit. Do you have any displacement in your scene? Can you post a Sketchup image of your scene with the materials shown so we can get a sense of what might be happening?

      Thanks,
      Rob

    • RE: How to make my render more realistic with vray?

Just a couple of quick notes.

      1. Your white is too white. There is no such thing as pure white material in the real world. Try making it slightly grey (RGB 210,210,210) or something like that.

      2. The lighting is unnatural. If you want a realistic image use realistic lighting. Try finding an IES file that matches your fixture. That fixture would not produce an even bright light like that.

      3. Good textures are -very- important. Try finding real world examples of the models you have in your scene and notice that even the white seat for example, would be probably constructed from wood and therefore even if it were painted it would have some little bumps and dents.

      4. My last suggestion would be the camera angle. When I look at this image I feel as if I am viewing it through a security camera up in the corner of the room. Perhaps try lowering the camera a little to be more from a person's eye level.

Take these as constructive criticism only. You definitely have a good start here and the books in the book case look great to me.

    • RE: Stretched Materials Appearing after rendering... PLEASE HELP

Yes, basically Vray doesn't know how big to make your texture or in what direction to lay it because it uses SketchUp textures to determine that. And since a color has neither direction nor size it gets all messed up.

    • RE: Rendering scenes (for a total novice!)

I'm not really sure what you mean. Vray (and all renderers) only renders the current (or saved) view. You can then save the image shown on the Frame Buffer to an image file (.jpg, .png, etc) Does this help clear thing up at all?

    • RE: Having problems with bump Maps

tparks is right. The problem is that Vray needs UV coordinates to know how big your diffuse material is so that it can match the bump map to it.

    • RE: Having problems with bump Maps

Just to be clear, are you talking about 'Bump' or 'Displacement'? It looks as if its a displacement issue, if this is the case you need to subdivide you faces into more and smaller pieces. Vray is a little weird that way.

    • RE: Turn all layers off but not one

Go to the top of the list of layers click on the top layer, hold shift, go all the way down and click on the last layer then click 'Visible' to turn them off, then turn on the layer you want.

Perhaps there is a plugin that can do this, but honestly this is pretty easy.
