    • Dynamic Components not working

Hi, many dynamic components that I download from the Warehouse don't work. I download them through the components browser, and i explode them to see if there's a Sketchup-created outer shell around them, as per instructions I read elsewhere. But they still don't work. I get the circle and slash when I run the Interactive tool over them.

This happens on user-created dynamic components, may I add. I don't have these problems with DCs created by the SketchUp team or by companies (like Kraftmaid). Are the DCs just bad? Or am I doing something wrong? I ask because it happens too many times.

      Thanks for any insight!

    • RE: Arrgh! How do you exit Match Photo?

Just out of curiousity I opened a new file and imported a match photo. I didn't do any work on it, just tried to leave. I orbitted and panned, but it didn't let me out. Neither did clicking on Done (which wasn't grayed out this time). Do these techniques work for you? I must be doing something wrong...

Gaieus -Sorry for asking, but how, specifically, would I navigate away from, or delete it? Right-clicking gave me few options. About all I could do was close the file.

    • RE: Arrgh! How do you exit Match Photo?

That was one of the things I tried. Window/Match Photo brought up the Match Photo dialog box, but Done was grayed out, as I hadn't actually done anything yet; I had just mistakenly imported the photo as a match instead of as an image. Then I couldn't leave.

I ended up deleting the file and turning its skb into an skp. Wow, that's a handy feature.

    • Arrgh! How do you exit Match Photo?

I'm in Match Photo hell. I can't exit it. I've done a search and seen references to canceling it. I can't find a cancel button anywhere, including right-clicking on the screen for a context menu. I even saved and reopened -it's still there. How do you leave the Matrix?

Ok, thanks! I didn't think I exploded the images I saw in the browser, but I guess I did. Searching for their edge as a way to delete is a good tip, thanks again.

    • ? about imported images

Hi, I've got a question about photos imported as images. Sometimes I see their thumbnails in the In Model part of the Materials Browser, but often I don't! This is a problem when I want to delete the image. Painting over it doesn't work, as I can't even select it. Other times I see the thumbnail and everything works like it should. But more often it doesn't. Any ideas what's happening or what I'm doing wrong? I save the model, I close and reopen it, but the thumbnail isn't there, even though the image is. Thanks for any insight!

    • RE: Edit Materials Options on the Mac?

I wasn't clear, sorry. I was referring to the PC eyedropper icon that says "match color of object in model." Not the eyedropper/magnifying glass that samples a color from the screen. It seems to do the same thing as the eyedropper that samples colors and matches them.

One more question -when, specifically would you prefer to use "match color of object in model" as opposed to just sampling the color? As far as I can tell, they do the same thing.

Thanks, Gaieus and pbacot! That page was very good too, I didn't see it when I searched for the answer.

    • Edit Materials Options on the Mac?

When editing materials on my PC, I have icons for "match color of object in model" and "match color on screen." But I don't see these icons on my Mac. Do they not exist?

      Thx!

pbacot - I don't have Pro on the Mac yet, just the PC. How are the pdf options better?

BTW, both my Mac and PC have a "colors named" option in the Materials box, and tool tips describing the materials. Is there something I'm missing?

I guess that means "yes." πŸ˜„ Ok, thanks! Yes, I've noticed that the Materials box is different. Not a whole lot different, just enough to be annoying, lol. Just wish the default paint icon was more prominent instead of hidden.

    • RE: ? about toolbar functions on a Mac

Ok, thanks! One more thing that I've noticed. On the PC, in the Materials box, the icon for the default paint is right there on the top pane. I find that very handy. However, on the Mac, the only place I can find the default paint icon is hidden in Colors In Model. Is there no where else to access it?

Dave, thanks for the info! Which version do you like better for LayOut -Mac or PC? Why? I've recently gotten Pro and am just starting to play w/ Layout.

    • ? about toolbar functions on a Mac

Hi, I've been working on a Mac lately and have noticed two things:

      1. I can't dock the Large Toolset like I can on a PC.

      2. Under Tool Palettes, there's no option for "Save Toolbar Positions" like there is on the PC.

Are these features hidden somewhere, or do they just not exist?

      Thx for any insight!
