RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Finally done!!!
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/6cbb459d-0ada-4808-bc9b-73d988302472/2020-Rogue-Milano-Sedan
This model has been in the works since 2016. It's slowly become my most detailed and cleanest yet, and I'd say my favourite too! The 2020 Milano comes in at 250k polys, DOUBLE that of the 2015 Coupe!
The engine is my 4.0 I6 now with Twin Turbos! The drive-train and suspension are largely revised form previous models for accuracy and realism, now with a lot more detail. My interior model has been extensively reworked. Gone are the boring generic seats and in their place are a massively updated luxury set. The dash is largely worked over with a more modern shape, featuring hidden retro-modern LED gauges behind a frosted 'glass' fascia (not modeled). I've also largely updated the door cards with a cleaner shape, new arm rests and new and revised speakers.
The body borrows from the 2015 model but has been heavily revised. Mesh has been nearly doubled and the rear has seen extensive subtle revisions, with a recessed 'aero' appearance.
I hope you enjoy my work!
I've also uploaded the drive-train seperately if anyone wants it

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Sorry to hear that Brian, I hope it's nothing that can't get better soon!
So I've done a little playing around with the front end but can't get the modern front to meld with the retro rear. I'm adapting the Milano front to the Sedan, which basically makes this a slightly resigned 2015 Milano in Sedan form (face-palm). Ah, well, at least I've a new spare front end for a different model...
-
RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Another update, got a fair amount done today! Front end is almost properly matched up and I've decided I'm gonna add my interior, but with a few more changed. Will be re-doing a fair amount of the dashboard, will look at updating the seats and pedals and maybe change the door trims a bit. Easier for me to modify what's there than to start fresh. If I feel like it, I might do a drive-train after all. I decided to change the colour and wheels (obviously) and I revised the tail lights and rear quarter window a bit, they're subtle changes but I much prefer it now.
This is basically the final look, so don't expect anything too major until it's uploaded. The name of it will be the 2020 Milano Sedan, instead of the previous Cougar name, since it's basically a massively revised 2015 Milano with 4 doors

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Ha, thanks Bryan, it's nice to know my work is useful to some people
I haven't done much more in SU since. Then motivation isn't there at the moment and my health is making it hard for me to focus lately. I can't spend much time in front of my computer, so my time on it is more focused on higher priority stuff.
After seeing the new Porsche Taycan, I was hoping to change the direction of the 'Cougar' sedan, making it an electric GT. Unfortunately I'm struggling to come up with the right changes to the design needed. It's weird how I can go from one day my brain is overflowing with ideas too fast to get them on paper to months and months of 'designers block', barley able to form a design in my head.
Anyway, I'll post the latest update on the Cougar. I've mostly finished the rear, just minor changes needed. If I do get around to finishing the front bumper, I might just upload it without an interior or drive-train. It's such a time consuming process that I only really do to satisfy my own perfectionist urges. I just want to get the design out there as it's been sitting here for nearly 4 years!

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Second update in one day! I felt like getting started on remodelling the Escort to match my Fiesta type design while it's fresh in my mind. Looks good so far imo

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Thanks pbacot, it's nice to 'see' some familiar people still on here!
I felt like posting a small update. I haven't been doing much in SU but I've been trying to bone-up on my drawing skills (which have always been fairly average). I've also been putting the last pieces together for my first proper PC. It's nothing high-end, but it's a good mid-range gaming machine!
Here are a few things I've been working on:
I felt like doing something along the lines of my classic Paramount Coupe. I've a few Ford models I made including the Capri, Escort and a couple of other classics I felt always deserved a bit more attention, so they'll find their new life as Rogue classics! Taking some inspiration from the Holden Torana LC and Mercury Cougar XR7, the first is a remodelling of my Capri, tentative name; Puma.
I wanted to partner this with a Ford Fiesta type hatch and perhaps a coupe variant. I could probably re-use a large part of my Escort MK2 as I'm doing with the Capri/ Puma
I've wanted to face-lift the Fortissimo for quite some time. I've started with the roof, if I feel happy with the way that goes I'll try to redesign the entire back-end. I did some blue-prints to get a rough idea of what I'm wanting to change
A small update on the sedan, back-end is almost finished! I'm glad I went this direction it looks almost exactly as I envisioned it!
And lastly, I'm playing with the idea of finally making a MX-5 inspired roadster! I've wanted to do something in this class for a long time, but never produced a design sketch I was happy with. Some of the details are up-in-the-air, but I'm confident in what I want to do with it, if I get around to it that is! Also; POP-UP, UP-AND-DOWN HEADLIGHTS!!!

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Anyone still active around here? I've jumped back into SU for a few models. I've got the itch again! Here is a quick update on what I've been up to:
2015 Was my last really busy year, I uploaded too many models to showcase here, so I'll drop my 3D Warehouse link for anyone interested!
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/user/d8bb4d13-3b01-44a0-a007-4a77a32b6433/Ben-B?tab=models2016 Saw the Rogue Instigator, a homage to my first ever Rogue branded design I drew as a kid:
A new wheel! I'd started work on a new model and wanted a new wheel to go with it. I also finally got around to making a new brake caliper, I got so sick of looking at the horribly low poly thing I used for years!
A new Azione model, to replace the GT3. I added massive amounts of detail, a lot of which went into smoothing edges and making an updated V10 engine
The once abandoned sedan model is finally seeing some progress, after 3 years of inactivity. I borrowed the back end from my 2015 Milano as it much more closely resembled my original design sketch than the one I had planned, and suites it a lot better! I'll try to make an all-new interior too, and will likely put a V6 in it
Well, if anyone is still subbed to this thread or comes across this, I hope you've enjoyed my little update. I felt like posting something here since the old 3D Warehouse car community seems entirely gone, especially now SU is web based (bad move Trimble!), and I've not networked with anyone from the SU community in quite a while. Hopefully I'll have something more to post here in the future, if I don't fizzle out again soon!

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
I think I'll stick with Google+ for now, I don't really do enough SU work any more to justify signing up anywhere else.
@__emerald15__ I actually build the whole shell, generally top down, and just finalise certain parts as they are completed just to protect them from accidental modification. Most of my process is just making it up as I go, lol. It's a lot of messy work that eventually ends up tidy. If I'm making a design up as I go I probably use the move tool more than anything else, just splitting lines and repositioning endpoints. It's how I re-made my old low-poly Trojan Super Cobra model into a high detail model. Believe it or not, the new model is directly built from the old mesh, just with adding detail, adjusting the shape and adding in new stuff to update the shape..
Or when building from a drawing, just making outlines of objects and branching off, re-scaling, reusing, moving and repositioning existing geometry and playing with the shape from every angle

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Far out, still posting here regularly? I've been trying to find a better place to post updates about my SU projects than on Google+, seeing as the 3DWH community died after it was transfered to Trimble....

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Anyone of the old-school 3D Warehouse regulars still on these forums?

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
Well, i haven't really been posting here much. If you want to keep up to date with my WIP's check out my Buzz or Google profile:

Here is the latest from FR3. Its the Ford GT70 .
Just need to clean it up a bit more and make wheels for it.

RE: Rogue's W.I.P's!
FUC#, DAMN SERVER CRASH!
Oh well....here is all that got deleted (I hope)
Rogues sedan model list:
-Base model
-Mid Range model
-Basic Performance model
-Luxury model
-Performance model
-Limited High Performance model
-V8 Touring CarI am still contemplating the actual title of the model though, a few have come to mind and I am still open to suggestions. Words with strong meaning that sound really good, like: sentient.
Here are some pics of the revision done to the model:
