Thanks again SK, to answer your question, I just used the "push/pull" method to make my parts. I don't know what "outer shell" is. But now I will go look for it.

    • TT guide tools not working

Hi, I just downloaded TT Lib2 and TT guide tools. From what I had read, this should be quite a collection of ways to insert guide points. Looking at the "rb" code there should be at least one subfolder within the plugins folder. All I have here is a basic "Draw cpoints" command in the plugins folder.
I downloaded and extracted the TT Lib2 zip file, that main folder, it's sub folders, and the TT guide tools.rb are in the same folder.
I am running windows 7 if it matters.
Maybe I'm wrong but I was under the impression that there were several way to select where I could place a guide point.
      Thanks for your help,
      Rick

    • RE: Pivot arm won't pivot

Sketchykev, thanks. Check out my attachment. Using your idea of renaming, I used the servo slider to control the piston and the hinge. I got rid of the "gear" affect by rotating the hinge 180 deg to correct the rotation. I know it's not physically correct because the lock is too long. But the overall effect is just what I was trying to do.
I know nothing about physics, I am a CAD guy, but this is great for design. I wish I understood what it actually takes to make the parts interact correctly. For example my very first upload you looked at; why doesn't the lock physically push the arm, and the arm in turn push the block like the one you did.
I will study yours further, but I doubt I'll get it. We'll see.
      Thanks again for your time,
      Rick

Actually what I was asking was how did you link all 3 servos to one slider?

Sketchykev, pretty slick, two questions: how did you do that? and how do I "drag" the handle?
      Thanks,

Beautiful!! Now, I changed to a servo, added another servo and a piston. With your help I got them all working. Please see my new file. Is there any way to make them work simultainiously?
      Thanks again!!!!

    • Pivot arm won't pivot

Hi, brand new to SP. My model is fairly simple. I want it to pivot around the pin but it just falls off.
      Please see attached.
      Thank you for your time.

    • RE: Multi wall problem

Answered my own question. When drawing the lines I was in plan view which made my picks come from the top of the existing walls. So I ended up using a negative value for the wall height, which worked fine to create the wall, but apparently it screws up the opening operation.
      Thanks,
      Rick

    • Multi wall problem

Hi folks, still getting used to SU. I am trying the multiwall plugin which is awesome.
But when creating an opening, some walls, (created from "lines to walls") get a "bumpout" rather than an opening. I have attached the dwg in question.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Rick

    • Align the axis to a VIEW

      sketchup8 / win xp pro

Hi, many times in 3d I have to draw something "non orthogonal",or perpendicular to the screen with the model twisted in some obscure direction.
Autocad (and maybe others) have a "user coordinate system" (UCS). With this you can be looking at your model from any direct and use the UCS/view command and the axis will snap to the view. Not a face or edge or anything else, just the view.
Maybe PRO has this I don't know.
      Thanks,
      Rick

    • RE: Roundcorner toolbar

As my Father inlaw would say "I got 'er boys". I went back to winzip and noticed the check boxes for "use folder names" and overwrite older files. There were no folders showing so I didn't have them checked. Well that's what I get for NOT thinking...It works perfectly now.

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure you will hear from me again as I just started using Sketchup a few days ago.

      MERRY CHRISTMAS FOLKS!!

    • RE: Roundcorner toolbar

Well, when I downloaded the zip files and opened them to extract the files there was only all the random files. No install or setup files, no instructions other than Fredo's at the download site for the folder hierarchy. So all I could do was create the folders, and extract the files manually.
I would LOVE to do a "normal" install or setup.
If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be marvy.
      Thanks again,
      Rick

    • RE: Roundcorner toolbar

Okay I created the Images folder in the MAIN plugin folder, and moved ALL image files from BOTH fredo6 and roundcorner to it. Still nothing. Should I have made separate SUB folders for EACH of the fredo6 and roundcorner folders?
Thanks for all of your help and patients.

    • Roundcorner toolbar

Hi, is there a way to keep the roundcorner toolbar active when selecting another tool such as line or circle? Going back to the pulldown every time is kind of a drag.
      Thanks,
