    • RE: New Layer build not displaying in drop down list

In its simpliest form, 5 new layers, it works without added entities to each layer.
The version that disappeared had many new layers. I will be building the list and saving it off more often, I need to keep a master in notepad, but I am not sure where to put the notepad layer file to get the default drawing to pick it up.

Adding entities to the layers makes sense though, entities that set for drawing styles that will be used on that layer, that a match property can be executed from.

don't know about your mousetracks, but sometimes you need a little helper geometry on your screen to get your inferences going.

When my screen is empty and I need to rotate something I draw a smallish square then Push Pull it into a cube. Now when I need to rotate, I use the face of the cube to lock inference , when the rotate tool turns the right color, hold down shift then move it to the object i want to rotate and flip-it.

    • RE: SU Layer Files

I can see where the layer 0 is in the .skb, After writing the list in notepad do you just paste it in at the layer 0 end?

And thanks for the extra layer ext rb. I'll give it a shot.

Charlie, Nice mantle and sharp work,

It is good to see LO working. I am seeing printed lines all blurred together, like the resolution couldn't be set any higher, but it was turned as high as possible. I was trying to plot 1/2" scale on Arch D, at higher resolution. I coulda done better with a crayon. Nevertheless, Charlie has figured it out and it looks good.

    • SU Layer Files

Where is the layer file stored and what is the extension for the SU layer list. And can you edit layer lists directly from that location?

    • RE: Upgrade Video Card Reccommendations

I Did some disk cleaning this weekend, I found my C partition had only 3% left before full. I thought I kept a cleaner house. I backed up and sent the stagnant files to another storage place, loosening up %42 percent of my space. I will admit the machine feels so much more responsive. I thought I had recently done system maintaince, Point is dont overlookk the obvious to keep performance up.

    • New Layer build not displaying in drop down list

I have created a new Default template that had a new and detailed layer structure.
I set up the new preferences and saved it to the Templates. The changes to the preferences stuck.
What didnt stick was all the new layers. I can look at the layer list in notepad and it is substantially heavier than my old default start file, but the layers dont show in the drop down list. Is there a way to dichper the layer list in SU to see what layers may be in there?
Is there a possibility of getting them to display in the list, or is it a total redo?
      Thanks for any advice and...
      Merry Christmas.

    • RE: Another administrative problem

After it times out it becomes FREE! FREE! FREE! Unless of course it is on the same network as your Pro Verison. then if the two are booted simutaneously, You get this annoying "DO YOU WANT TO UPDATE YOUR AUTHORIZATION NOW? Popup, and when you say "no" the second system to boot version gets a big UNAUTHORIZED banner across the top. I guess this is because you can only have one pro version per license. How funny, I'll take the free version for all my extra computers. HAND

    • RE: How to make a mess in SU

Actually, I used the Scale tool.
The tape measure tool kept moving my assembly around the screen but there was no decipherable difference in the size.

Edit: I thought there was a explode the dimension tool, so I could make it stay at its current value then after the change, it would still be the same numeric value.

    • How to make a mess in SU

Man did I ever screw up.
I made these components knowing and when I brought them into my drawing I wanted them scaled up x4. Now the problem is...the dimensions think they get to 4x themselves and the text stays at the made size which was made 1/4 of the intended finished size. I have a big dimension value and a little bitty text.

The arrow text did the same thing, (stayed small) I made it 1/4 size for scaling and when I scaled the detail, It stayed small.

This is the opposite of what I expect to happen.I need an explode Dimension tool. Does anyone have one?

Life is too short to fight computers.

    • RE: Upgrade Video Card Reccommendations

I have a house fully dimensioned, and each set is a component. These components are on their own layer, when the dimension layer is on performance suffers. Guess I'll have to test the same set of dimensions with another font. Are some standard fonts known to be heavier than others? I could imagine the 3D font is hefty, but I dont use that much. Dimensions seem to have a more noticeable performance effect than materials.

    • Section cutters with marker flags

      Ruby Gurus...
      I am wondering:
When you place a section cut plane, is there a way through ruby to attach a text bubble (text box that you can enter info like 1/ax.x) that could have a user entry for the section # and page? I don't think it would need to be printable, but if there was a way to label section cuts so you could reference cuts after you have made a few too many to remember their exact location. This idea would be useful if you turned on your section cuts and could see a reference at the direction arrow so you could place your own tag at plan view or elevation view etc.

    • RE: TextTag

      TIG,
This is really a nice tool! I have been detailing a set of CDs in SU the past two days, and have used it alot. You asked for comments, and I have one. I am finding I have to move the tag up in the z axis 1" to make it stay visible. I wonder if the 1mm is tall enough for text height?
      Thanks for this great tool.
