      SketchUp is not geared towards that level of intricacy. Not impossible just labour intensive, especially for furniture. I still think texturing is the way to go. If it's for presentation then its more visual than accurate.

      Had another go at this. Used the process I outlined in previous post. Draw around an imported image for the deer and then just free hand drew the trees. Doesn't take as long as it would seem... think I mucked about with the texture longer than modeling the thing...... it's a little more in the style of the O.P.'s original image.
