    • Product Flow Animation

      Hi,
I am trying to use sketchup for an animated product flow sales presentation, it is due Monday ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. I had thought about using sketchyphysics but I'm not a pro and this product flow is complex so i don't think i could get it done by Monday. So what I've been doing is moving and copying the product then creating scenes using the hidden gemeotry feature to give the effect that the product is moving as you toggle through the scenes. There are two main problems with this method: First, to create a smooth looking animation I am going to need lots and lots of scenes. Second, I would like to save this as a video file does anyone know how to create videos clip by clip using a scene as the video clip? I've attatched what I've done so far if anyone has some better ideas or can answer any of my questions I would appreciate it.

      Thanks

P.S. if you toggle through the scenes ignore the even numbered ones.

    • Multiple Windows in Sketchup?

I was wondering if it is possible to have multiple windows of the same model open in sketchup? or just having multiple windows of different models and one toolbar instead of a whole sketchup window for each model? โ“ โ“

    • RE: Component Attributes

Thank you for answering my question i was able to figure out what was wrong. i had set the axis on my component in a way that the component attributes interface already assigned a rotation around one of the axis. and for some reason when you change one of the rotation attributes it sets the other rotation attributes back to zero.

This is an example of the component axis that I set. if you try to rotate the part with component attributes strange things happen.

    • Component Attributes

I have SketchupPro7, and I'm trying to understand how the RotX, RotY, And RotZ attributes work and are measured. Is the degree of rotation measured about the individual components axis? If so, why does it seem that when i change the degree of RotX, RotY, or RotZ from with Component Attributes that that it rotates the component around the "model" axis and not the "component" axis? And on occasion when i start changing the RotX, RotY, and RotZ it can effect the size of the part. if anyone can shed some light on this it be much appreciated

      Thanks Remus,
I'll have to play around with that align tool. I have tried to do some translating of Solidworks files into Sketchup with Deep Exploration but it didn't work very well, so I'll check into MoI. I've been trying to send PM's but when I click find a member it says "You are not authorised to view the member list or profiles." so what do I need to do to become authorised, or can you give me some email address of some people that could possibly help me this project?

      Thanks again

    • Using Sketchup for Drafting

      Hi
I'm new so I'll introduce myself. I'm a Mechanical Drafter and I've been researching google Sketchup as a possible CAD software for the company that I work for. I found this forum and I was impressed with the knowledge that was displayed. is there someone i could talk to that has knowledge in drafting and has written ruby scripts for Sketchup. some of question I have are:

      • feasability of writing a ruby script to quickly align components to each other.
      • Options for tranlating Solidworks files and Autocad Inventor files into Sketchup. and suggestions to decrease the number of faces when translating complex models
      • Creating an external data table from Sketchup using Dynamic components and/or outliner
      • Creating features that can cut through multiple surfaces example: (creating a hole then being able to move it and cut through the top and bottom of the part it is in.)
