Hey Jason,
I was not able to reproduce what you did with the sandbox tool. Also, when I apply the grass tool/ texture on a flat surface, very visible straight lines appear. Am I doing something wrong here?

I'm sorry, I didn't write it right: I am actualy using 2.7.1 here
Hello Jason,
What's up?
Can the grass in Maxwell 2.7 also be applied on more organic terrain in sketchup? I have tried but these "cracks" appear... Can you help me with this please? Thanks!
In the first render the two sides of the road were two components that I flipped along an axis (mirrored). In the last render (with no darker area) I exploded each components and made groups out of them.
Hi Jason,
The set of MXM's for the entire collection of Arroway textures sounds really cool and helpfull. I'm looking forward to it.
I have checked, and there is not a slight tilt in one part of the road, so that's not the problem. But I was able to solve the problem by changing the components into groups (Strange, I thought I tried this before).
For the second example: Ok, I prefer to work with as many components as possible, but if it's not always possible then I can live with that. I can always keep a copy of the geometry where I use components and then for the final render I can replace them by one group.
Many thanks for your quick response!!
Hello,
First off I want to say I really like Maxwell as a render program and I owe Jason Maranto for explaining it so clearly in his tutorials! And thank you for the RAL library materials man!! I love them.
The problem I have is the following: sometimes when I render geometry in the form of components or groups, one part becomes darker then the other, although they are identical (the exact same Maxwell material is applied).
Can someone help me out please? Thanks!
Thanks a lot Thomthom! Your plugin have worked just fine!
That plugin comes in very handy! Thanks a lot Gaieus!!
That's a good idea, but the light is good now and I think it will be very difficult to make it the same as it is now. But I thought of something else: I can tilt the camera/ view with the Ctrl key held down. It's not easy, but once I got it right I can make a scene out of it. Thanks anyway!
Hey,
I have a problem. I don't know how to get the maximum resolution out of an image that will be printed on a large scale in a vertical way. Sketchup turns out to be oriented horizontaly primeraly. The print will be 165 centimeters high and 68,5 centimeters wide. I figured out that the maximum resolution I can get with V-Ray is about 9000 x 6000 pixels.
When I render the scene horizontaly, I get this result:
A lot of space is lost this way on the left and the right side. When I do it verticaly with the exact same scene in sketchup, I get this:
For some reason it zooms out a lot this way. I could zoom in before I render and adapt the field of view value but I don't think this is a very practical way of working. Also, by changing the field of view, my drawing changes.
This is what the scene looks like in sketchup:
Does anyone knows a solution to this problem? Many many thanks in advance!!!
Pieter
That may be a good idea too, thanks!
Thanks! Good point about the verticality Ely. Indeed, the sandbox tools could be useful, you're right. But the only thing is that it is not very "raw" or edgy, you see what I mean?
Wow that looks really cool! But I am not sure if it will work for my purpose. Does anybody know any free plugins I can use?
Hello Folks,
I am working on a project and I have a little problem.
I am not at all satisfied with the way my bricks are "broken" now, as shown in the red circle above. Does anybody know a good way to break them in a more natural way?
Thanks!
Pieter
Hey Guys,
Thanks a lot for the replies. I'm going to give them a try but I'll probably go for Thea in the end. Region rendering sounds very promising. Also, the Motiva Colima application looks very cool and promising. Something more "What you see is what you get." Could be very handy.
Ok, thanks. Would it make a difference for those renderers if your computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows and has more then 4GB of RAM?
And which one of those would be the best/ most intuitive? Kerky, Thea or Maxwell?
Artlantis is definitly worth a try then. I don't understand very well why you guys make the difference between Kerky en Thea. I thought it was one program "Kerkythea". Isn't it?
Hey Andriy,
I have had a look at your website and I think you have made some amzing structures. The physical model in wood you have made must have been not an easy one. I am planning to make a physical model in wood too.
Did you use Artlantis as a plugin in Sketchup or did you export your sketchup file to a full program? If so, did you experience a lot of problems with this? (with compenents and so on)
