RE: IES light not showing
simply it'weak.
it works, but as you can see in the attachment, this is the result in a test scene with walls 300cm high, max power wich apparently is 1e+06 (digit 999999 and try to rise further )
the size of ies light is default vray and also standard visopts..try another file there are some great ies file in the same free collection you downloaded
i think this one is intended for some mini led or something, but not for light a whole empty scene..

RE: IES light not showing
can you share your IES file so that other users can test it?

Version 1.1.2
- Fixes a small undo bug.
should i uninstall/delete the previous build or it overwrites when .rbz is loaded?

RE: [Plugin][$] Vertex Tools
you are right, it works fine if you hit esc and is also faster than click on the toolbar! thank you!

RE: [Plugin][$] Vertex Tools
thomthom, i can't stop to play with this, i'm trying every single tool and stuff and they are all very amazing and intuitive to use.
i noticed only a strange beahaviour i can't quite understand:
if i select a loop with QFT and then enter VT, the selection/gizmo tool is active and the VCB is showing the "Soft Selection Radius" so that one can adjust it, then for example i move the selection+soft selection and the VCB shows the "Distance" so that one can easily adjust the movement itself.Ok, let's pretend now i want to move the ring in another direction, this time with a different soft selection radius, i click on the selection tool in VT floating toolbar and the VCB shows again "Soft Selection Radius" so one think he can adjust the radius again.. BUT i input the new radius and press enter and the tool just act like the previous "move" (or rotate or wathever the previous operation was) is still active and just continue to move it in the same direction such as "Distance" is still actually active in the VCB, instead of modify the selection radius as desired.
i have to exit the tool, re-select the ring again and then re-open VT and re-enter the radius to make it work again and change the amount of vertice soft-selected.
am i missing someting in the correct soft-radius adjusting or is it a little bug?

RE: Artisan 2 Wishlist
will ever artisan support quad faces?
or at least preserve it in case the proxy was properly created with thomthom quadface/vertex tools or fredo curviloft or tig extrusion tools or any other tools wich eventually generates quads?it would be very useful for cleaner topology, faster selections, better texture mapping etc.

RE: SCF members opinions needed on site advertising!

I take the same point of view as Jim Smith and andybot wrt the Sketchucation ads. I understand why they are there, and I do not use any type of adblock in general, at least as far as I know. All of the ads inserted in the pages are visible to me. Of course, I do not appreciate popups, but I don't experience these too much, elsewhere. (watch that change since I mentioned it.)
Probably the worst type of ads are the ones buried in text in articles, or blogs and when you accidentally mouse over they block further reading. That's when I bail.+1

RE: IES light not showing
have you turned your vray light into a component? that's a known issue..

RE: [Plugin][$] Vertex Tools
ah ok, a debit card is an italian "carta prepagata" not "bancomat".. the one i use everyday to the cash machine is a mere "bancomat".. my debit card expired because i didn't use it for a while..
too bad i have to wait till monday to go to the post office and create a new one.. -
RE: Animation suggestions
ok i tested it quickly, it works. you should:
set your sketchup desired scene transition time from view->animation->settings
move the flap to the start position and right click->proper animation->set position 1
move the flap to the final position and right click->proper animation->set position 2
go to plugins->proper animation->start scene observer
right click on the flap->get position 1-> create a scene (e.g. start)
right click on the flap->get position 2-> create a scene (e.g. end)
go to plugins->export smooth animation
choose your favourite export settings
exportthis works fine for me.

RE: Animation suggestions
i don't remember exactly how, but some time ago i'm sure i exported an assmbly sequence created with proper animation. search this forfum because your solution is somewhere here.

Only keyframe will export, Proper animation & mover are internal only.
doesn't smooth step animation export animation created by proper animation? i remember it does..

Maybe you have nice method for great looking and not heavy curtains?
i'm not god. i'm quite new to sketcup and vray and i'm sure a lot of people here could advice you better than me. also i'm not that good at english, so it's difficult for me to explain sometimes..
anyway i will try..i can't see it well from your screenshots, but your curtain looks very high poly. do you downloaded it from some 3dsMAX collection or something like this? or did you modeled by your own? i find IMHO that modeling object by myself to fit my render's needs is the best solution when it is possible..
in this case you say that you are using a double side curtain with no refraction on it.. why double side if you don't need refraction? also you are using a very small output like 800 pixel wide? so you can barely see the tickness or you can't see it at all.. for the same reason i suggest to model a section as a component (i would suggest to use beziere splines + extrude edges by rails, so you can easily control your segments) then copy-repeat the component.
all in all, i think a single sided low-poly component repeated (flipped and scaled maybe) would dramatically cut down the polycount and of course the render time..
ps. what's your computer specs?

if you have any other idea plaease let me know.
i don't know, the screenshot you attached are quite unreadable, moreover i don't know if there is some displacemente going on or blurry reflections etc, also i don't know which machine are you using.. your scene/geometry looks lot more complex than that of the other user.. it's hard to say..
edit: i read above you are not using displacement.
your scene looks utra-hi-poly however.. also maibe you are using super-heavy textures? is there refraction on the window glass? which cpu do you use?
