I'm not sure how I did it but I managed to corrupt the program and had to reinstall fresh. I'm in the process of rebuilding my plugins folder and there was one I had on my drop down menu that was called "face side colors" It had a flip out menu of things like sync face side colors, forced front to back, forced back to front, move front to back etc..
Might anyone know the actual name of this plugin? I saved a folder with all the plugins I had and don't have one with that name.

RE: Scroll wheel orbit function quit
found the drivers.. uninstalled (with cCleaner since their uninstallers wouldn't initialize) and all is well. Sorry to bring a non sketchup issue in and thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

Scroll wheel orbit function quit

RE: Cross hairs pivot point question
ok.. cool, will give that a shot. Thanks
ETA.. sadly, although the axis move was successful, the .dae export didn't keep it there.

Cross hairs pivot point question
Is it possible to reset where our center point is on a mesh? The VW I am a part of has an editor program about to update. To get a mesh, say a hat or ceiling fan...in the editor and tweak its position, there's a gizmo that lands on the pivot point of the mesh.. generally in the axis crosshairs - which for some things is darn far away from where we might want to place something.
I know we can center our objects on 0 0 0 but can we move that pivot point? -
RE: What's your beginners tip?
needs the how to set up shortcuts instructions
ETA.. ^found it^ nm

RE: Turn off cast and recieve shadows?
yep.. noob here
sorry I'm such a PITA.
-
RE: Turn off cast and recieve shadows?
That's just it, when I turn off the shadows with both of those settings, the entity info still says that each entity still has them. When I complete a model, I would like to select all and turn that all off at once.
I guess it's not a viable function unless there's a plugin I have not found yet.
-
RE: Turn off cast and recieve shadows?
uh.. yeah. That's what I was asking.. if there's a way to set as default, a shadowless environment.

RE: Turn off cast and recieve shadows?
and this is just why I'm back in the noob forum
facepalms

oh now hold on. I just went and turned both of those off .. well,.. one of them, the view menu shadows was already unchecked. Then I clicked on a surface and the entity info window still has both the cast shadows and receive shadows boxes checked.

Turn off cast and recieve shadows?
Is there a way to do this to a whole model instead of entity by entity?

RE: [Plugin] CleanUp
Got it working this morning ty
the M2 install from within the program feature doesn't seem to see anything besides file folders and .rbs files. I went to my backup plugins folder to start getting some of the missing most used plugins back after the update from within sketchup and don't see zip or rb files with that tool.

RE: [Plugin] CleanUp
hmmm.. I have that one in there
I'll take it out and download fresh
thank you

RE: [Plugin] CleanUp
Hello,
So.. after the installation of M2, I put tt_cleanup.rb in the brand new plugins folder.. I think the shiny new empty folder confused it.. it's lonesome in there and I'm getting the messages on startup
tt?cleanup.rb
Error: No such file to load - TT_lib2/core.rbSo.. instead of using the copy/paste of the file from the old plugins folder, I came back to this thread and downloaded it again.. same error message.
Is there a companion file I'm supposed to download with it?

open a drawing that uses the old template then do save as template?
john
(obvious I think but just incase)
delete all the geometry and purge first (unless you want certain materials etc in your template)
should be obvious.. but rolls eyes at self it wasn't. Ty will do

RE: SketchUp 8 M2 is out!
I thought I had them saved.. but not a style, I don't think. I think I had two templates saved so when the program comes up, I have my own scale and colors set up.. maybe that's a style.
Either way, neither the styles folder or the templates folder have them .. old or new installation.
I'm kind of dismayed that I can't fire up the version from before M2 I had running yesterday morning to get those settings and reconstruct the templates. -

my transition for SU 8 Pro.
- install new installation to current google folder. name "Google SketchUp 8M2"
- make a backup of the google sketchup plugins folder.
- cut and paste plugins over 1 at a time starting sketchup after each one.
- copy and paste materials, components and styles folders over to new SU folder.
some how google finds the old installation and moves all your settings files and templates.
I did not have to re-authorize.some plugins may have to be turned back on and moved back into position.
hopes this helps.
I didn't have that kind of luck in my attempt to keep the previous version of 8 resident. I renamed the sketchup 8 folder and created a new folder for the install of m2 both inside the programs(x86) - google folder.
My styles (er templates) didn't transfer over and the executable that was in the older 8 is gone. I just looked for my two created styles and can't find them either.
really does belong in the noob forumI have weeded down the plug in folder by more than half but can see that's not going to last long
