RE: Upholstered furniture
Your 3d modeling of furniture made me try myself modeling with SubD and model chairs, got some obsession with them.

Definitively best-upholstered furniture modeling here. -
RE: Affordable laptop for sketchup
@peterf said:
I am a furniture maker using sketchup for fairly simple models such as modelling kitchens etc and the laptop I use it on is dying! I've been hunting around for ages trying to find an affordable replacement that will meet the required specs, but keep reading conflicting advice. My budget is around £400. I can easily find laptops with 8gb ram and fast processors, but the graphics requirements are leaving me stumped. Everyone says intel hd graphics are useless and some people say the AMD ryzen 5 integrated graphics are better and some say they're worse. Basically it seems like I can't afford a computer with a dedicated graphics card, so for the sort of modelling I do, what would you guys recommend? These are my top 2 options currently...

Well, with LENOVO V155-15API, you do get minimum requirements but it is minimum so if your models will be simple with not too many polygons then I guess you will be fine. But again, this is a minimum.

The texture is not an image. It is a mesh a few millimeters above the model.
Model is awesome. Maybe for texturing you could try and learn how to unwrap model in and then one of these two for texturing:

RE: Texturing Geodesic faces
@claviateur said:
Hello,
I use Sketchup Make 2017 and I am trying to make the Geodesic shape polygon faces get a repetitive motif just like in the architectural structure in the photo below.
I tried Fredo Tools (ThruPaint) with many texture options but could not get it to work.
Is there a plugin that can do this mapping repetition?
Also, I am wondering how the texture should look like (with the bright color on the edge) to make it work on the 3D shape.
Thanks

You could try:
- Make components out of the same parts and reassemble geode, then texture one component.
- Use Wrapr plugin (there is a trial) and unwrap geode, export UV as a picture, open it in Photoshop like app and make a texture for geode.
- Export geode as obj or fbx, open it in Blender, unwrap there and use either Blender to texture geode or go the same as second suggestion.

Any idea of the number of models to make for your challenge?
This next one is some gorgeous!

If I count them right there is 32 models to be made.
I am a bit a chair admirer and it is great for me to learn something about architects that designed them.
1000 would be not a challenge but a life long project

RE: Chairs by Architects personal challenge
Thank´s gentleman's for a good word, it is a bit more than comfortable and it did pass some time sains I did something out of my comfort zone but there lays the fun.
Next chair is Joseph Maria Olbrich Armchair 1899, and after that, I will model one more complicated, probably Victor Horta Dining Room Chair 1890. -
Chairs by Architects personal challenge
I got as a present a book 'Chairs by Architects' from my daughter and decided to make all of the models as this year challenge for my modelling skills.
This is not first one in the book but it will serve as a starting model. The chair is designed by Otto Wagner for the Austrian Post Office Savings Bank building and produced by Gebrüder Thonet company. I did use reference dimensions of a model they still produce.
Model is made with SU_2019, uv´s with Ultimate Unwrap 3D, texture and render in Substance Painter.

RE: Gamble House Bed
It is more pleasing to my eyes the second version, and it breaks texture a bit so my eyes are not drawn to texture first and I can enjoy your model as a whole better. Great work as usual.

RE: Applying textures to curved shapes -multiple narrow faces
Try using the FredoTools plugin. There is a ThruPaint tool for what you need for texturing.

RE: [Plugin][$] FredoCorner - v2.7a - 31 Mar 24
Hi Fredo,
I get this message when using bevel (same for Round) when selecting three edges.
Is this tool limit so it just can´t do or I am doing something wrong here? Also,
Thank You very much for all the plugins you have created and made my work easier doing so.

RE: Help on a specific curvature
Hi there,
throughout the forum, I am not aware much about car modeling so perhaps there is the reason for not making a lot of support here.
I think you are using tools which will you get not far when car modeling is what you are after for.
Here are some YT vids on that subject:Artisan plugin or SubD plugin is, in my opinion, the best tools for this kind of modeling.
You will need a few more but if you watch the video you will see additional plugins he uses.
