      Your color is not a color at all though, its a material. Right? That's new to me if it is. I'll need to investigate.

      Yes Chris... this is actually the trick! The color can be a material! And just in this second i have some ideas about how this feature can be exploited. ๐Ÿ˜„

      I don't know if you are aware of this, but in case you aren't...
      The layer color can be texture! ๐Ÿ˜„ Just figured this out a minute ago, when playing around in SU.

    • Ruby Numeric. Help - Sorry for bothering. RESOLVED

      I have to display some values, and most of all are integers, but some will be float. This is why I must use float.
      I want to get rid of zero to that values that don't require it.
      This is what I want:

      %(#4000BF)[3.3 => 3.3
      4.8 => 4.8]
      16.0 => 16

      I could do the trick in many ways but I'm still looking for something native.

      There is no native way, but I find this on web:

      #extend the Float class
      class Float
        def to_i_if
          if self - floor == 0
            floor
          else
            self
          end
        end
      end

      But here will be a problem: if I have a number like this: 4.00001, won't be converted to integer. For that, the method to_i_if can be enhanced:

      class Float
        def to_i_if(threshold=0)
          if self - floor <= threshold
            floor
          else
            self
          end
        end
      end

      treshold => display format like this: 0.01 (how many zeroes you need)

      I found this on web and I thought to share it.

      Hi Ollywally,

      Welcome to SCF, glad to see you've set the bar so high!

      Any chance you could give us a bit of background about yourself? I'd like to know how go about your elimination process?

      I hope it's not like 'Takeshi's Castle' ๐Ÿ˜‰

      I think I can offer the answer for that ๐Ÿ‘ฟrules.png
      Sorry for being bad, but as I see, our honorable frient olliewollie wants a house idea/project and what's the best and effortless way to get one, but to ask people to a "challenge" ?
      Sorry olliewollie, I don't mean to offend you. It's just my point of view. I'll be glad to join your challenge, but to a more accessible one.

      I would like to start learning Ruby.
      Where do I start? Where to I find an interpreter for Windows?
      An IDE?

      Saddly my only experience is with Microsoft VB.

      This depends on what do you want... scripting for SketchUp doesn't require an interpreter. SketchUp have a built-in ruby interpreter.

      But you can start learning from here: http://pine.fm/LearnToProgram/
      And you might want to take a look on this: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=169&t=6903#p137855

    • RE: Snowy night and day

      try to put some snow on the table, on the top of that night light device (sorry, I don't know the proper name of that), remove that car, because who have such car donesn't let it uncovered in winter or drives it like that. And... change the sky, because that is a summer sky. In winter the sky is more blue, more cold and because of the angle of sun.
      Some snow traces on the terrace would be nice ๐Ÿ˜›
      One more thing: windows freeze down, not up! ๐Ÿ˜„ Because up is warm.

      The snow effect is working well, but all the green vegetation bothers me. It would look better with some leafless trees. On the last the window reflection has a green field in the backdrop. Otherwise, ๐Ÿ‘

      It happened once when I was child... It was August and it was snowing. A lot ! Of course it dissapeared in about one hour, but for a moment was like in the picture ๐Ÿ˜„

      I need them as array elements in ruby, that is why I want to concatenate them as separate parameters.

      In Javascript you can use the .join() function (very similar to the Ruby one) to convert a list to a string with separator.
      for instance val1.join(';').

      The only thing you have to keep in mind is that the transmission to Ruby is done with a String after the @. So up to you to encode in JavaScript and decode in Ruby.

      Fredo

      Thanks! This is what I am going to do. I will separate the string in ruby, to get desired array.

      hello, I want to pass two parameters like this:

      query = 'skp;send_values@' + val1 + 'WHAT HERE?' + val2;

      but I don't know how to concatenate val 1 + val2. I tried with @, with &, but doesn't work.
      Any suggestion ?

      Just build your component onto a face ๐Ÿ˜„. When you will select the geometry and press G (make component shortcut) you will see "cut face" option checked.

      ๐Ÿ˜ฎ there are some delicious renders here - NewOne, are those textures applied in SU or in Maxwell?

      In maxwell ๐Ÿ˜ž Because If I used UV Tools -spehiral map http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=10404#p68711, things became complicated. When exporting .mxs from SketchUp, the textures are exported too and if I use that plugin, I have a texture export for each face. I tried at first texturing in SketchUp, but when exporting I had a folder with almost 6000 texture images. And I think something went rong in Maxwell engine, because I could not start the render. Perhaps the allowed number of materials was exceeded, because for each texture exported Maxwell used a copy of the material, with different UV sets.

      WE REALLY NEED A BETTER UV MAPPING in SketchUp

      Ok, so this plugin looks great !
      But:
      -is it free?
      -is it available in english?
      -how can it be downloaded without registering on some chinese website, because some of us don't know the language.
      If it's free, it would be a good idea to put it here for download ๐Ÿ˜„, don't you think?

      The wireframe remains without section edges if I move the plane, but the shaded version regains its edges if I focus on a face or I move the section plane.
