Thanks for sharing... Might give it a go. Still some time left. I only wish there was some forum somewhere for design competitions around the world... One could pick and choose the ones to apply for.

RE: More doodles
These are all really good! I wouldn't call em doodles. They're pieces of art! I love the way you depict light and shade. Great work!

RE: Adding any and every type of grass
Fantastic tutorial! Makes post processing grass really easy What exactly do you mean by a raw render? Does it mean the rendered image from the rendering program or is it a file format? I use thea render and am familiar with vray and vue but I do not what this term means. Apart from that the tut works like a charm because I used an image (jpg format instead of raw image)

RE: Bonzai3D vs Sketchup ?
ThomThom, I'm sorry for not being clearer in my previous post... But yeah I do mean, how is it able to handle more geometry compared to sketchup. I have read up some more on Bonzai and it doesn't offer subdivision modelling. Something which sketchup does by means of Artisan and the bevel/round corner plugins... But how it handles geometry is of essence. Considering they are pitching it as a solid modeler with the ability to handle NURBS.

RE: Bonzai3D vs Sketchup ?
How does b3d fare with models in excess of a 100mb size? Since it imports and exports multiple formats, can it be used as a platform where i merge my sketchup models (with obj files such as trees and cars etc) and so forth...?

RE: Bonzai3D - double take
This has been a looooong interesting read... There wasn't any mention though of how this software handles large amount of geometry. But i haven't seen much development on this in the past year or so... Maybe waiting for a better sketchup is the way forward?

RE: SketchUp 8 M2 is out!
@Jeff: I was just clarifying whether the new way to install plugins was the way forward for sketchup in general or just for sketchup pro...
@jbacus: Thankyou for clarifying This may be out of topic, but is the google team working on a sketchup that is able to handle more geometry (heavier models)? Because that would be the only push I'd need to go pro... Its not every day I get to interact with the developing team so... Thankyou for this great piece of software...

jbacus...
Indeed...
I do have a vague 'plan' [when time allows!] to 'Extensionalize' my main scripts and then offer .zip/.rbz versions for alternative installation... if you have v8+++...
Thereby, up-to-date Users can install the updated tools via Preferences - but it needs considerable [unpaid] effort on my part...
AND there are many 'legacy' Users who will still need the .zip version...
Is this google's way to take away rubies too from the free sketchup version? I believe this new way to install rubies is available only in M2 (pro version)?

RE: Chair!!
A how to would be really appreciated. I do believe you've used artisan. There aren't many good "how to's" for artisan... cheers.

RE: Our good friend Honoluludesktop has passed away.
I do not remember honolulu, but what I do remember is his picture. I've seen that image on quite a few of the forum threads and on few ruby threads. Heartfelt condolences to his near and dear ones. May his soul rest in peace.

RE: "my "ART-SKETCH COMPONENTS"...
Just went through the entire thread... This is sooooo old!! I cannot do models like these even now... and you were doing em like 3 years ago!! phenomenal...!

RE: BoxPod
Pete its a nice concept but there is a very fundamental flaw IMHO. The purpose for these is to be portable. You have provided plumbing concealed in the design itself. But from where do you take the water supply to run that plumbing system, more importantly where does the sewage that you flush down the toilet go to? It would need some sort of Sewage treatment plant and some sort of water supply to get those bathrooms to work. Which would mean setting them up at some place and connecting all the housing units to them. Which would mean higher costs and no portability.
The renders are fantastic though and so are those trucks!

RE: CatchUp Edition 3
Great Job on the issue guys...! Always a fun read and really informative.

RE: Renovation living
Just a suggestion mate... Do not use the shelves You are providing concealed lighting in to keep books. The paper and the covers of books will fade faster . Those levels may be used to display some decorative items etc. But nice and clean design and beautiful renders...

RE: Mario
I've watched the video around 7-8 times.. Really helpful.. What was even more fascinating for me to see was the no. of icons in the toolbars, plugins etc installed... mesmerizing stuff..

RE: Mario
Thanks pete..! I dunno how you manage to do what you do..! you must be superman! how many hours does your day constitute of!?!

RE: Mario
and...? that helps by? this is an entirely new concept to me.. I am not into character modelling or organic modeling, but it fascinates me none the less... (maybe not into it coz cant do it that well yet) but how does having them in diff colors help i believe each colour is a diff layer... but still nothing..(sorry for sounding dumb). I thought (and I remember one of solo's quotes here "do not believe everything you think) that probably the way to go about it would have separate components for diff body parts and then just rotate or move the proxies as required...?

RE: Mario
Brilliant as usual pete... Thanks for sharing the model.. but it would be a great help if you could tell how do u exactly use the color coded areas for changing the poses..?
