I'd say the rug texture more than the table wood. Those are the only things I can think of though, what a brilliant image

That should help. That way you can see in sketchup if things have the same material. Not a solution as good as what you want but easier than just reading every one πŸ˜„

    • RE: Storyboarding

I'd have to double check but I thought:

When you are on scene two and hide a component, go to scene one and unhide it. When you go back to scene two it'll go hidden again?
      I'm gonna try now..

*EDIT FOR SECOND TIME πŸ˜† * Yep I just got that to work. Unhide one one scene, update it. By default it will save your hidden geometry settings

I'd like this too! I'd never stand a chance in the modeling ones so a render competition would be fun

    • RE: What do people use SketchUp for?

game modding! I remember years ago doing something strange like extracting files from a google earth file in order to get it into blender, and the oblivion!

Ecuadorian, sorry I didn't realise! MLT is in fact out, and is more prone to fireflies than DL but definitely better than PT.

Cheers for the tips Daniel. Can't believe I did that with the wood thinking about it now haha, no eye for detail!

I never thought about the clocks thing before. Maybe I'll tell him to put slow clocks up.. πŸ’š

    • RE: My first posted image! Pub interior

Solo - Haha yeah, it will be a sports bar/steakhouse, which is also why it looks MUCH less traditional than all of the other pubs by me. I just said pub because the section I made was basically just that

Ecuadorian - Yep it's fast, I think its mainly thought of as fast because of the direct lighting mode. Its the fast one thats activated as default, so it's what most people judge the speed by. However it's not path tracing and is really rubbish compared! Then again this waynI have the 2 options of slow really nice rendering or very fast rendering that IMO has the best ease of use/speed/quality ratio of any renderer Ive tried.

As for understanding it, I didnt really try, luckily I clicked with it right away. I never use the node interface though! Although its a main feature, you can do everything the same through basic and familiar menus. Once you got the hang of editing the materials there is hardly anything left to learn. Give the demo another try and mess around with the hallway sample scene!

      Thanks guys
Doh! Didn't think of the walls. It looked so much warmer with pathtracing on, I should have changed it when I switched to direct lighting! Hopefully I'll get time to revisit it soon...that's if I'm not too busy visiting the real thing πŸ˜‰

    • My first posted image! Pub interior

My friend bought a pub (for 40k!) and wanted me to quickly do a rendered layout of what he wants to do, to post around the immediate area. It'll change a lot from this, and I've only done one room, but it's just to get the word out ❗

I had no time to do this, used octane render on low settings (no pathtracing 😞 ) and let it bake for under ten minutes, so excuse noise haha. I also had to Photoshop out some items with messed up textures as I had no time to redo! It's just for print anyway.

Mostly google warehouse as it wasn't a profit job and I had little time

Aaanyways, here you go. Go easy on a SU Noob!

      I nominate Pete. πŸ’š

Judging by the post count, it seems he spends enough time slacking off that could be spent single handedly organizing a new 3D warehouse. I jest πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜†

    • RE: A new home for SketchUp

I don't see why anyone is dubious of Trimble. Okay if people would have preferred a more design-oriented company, fair enough. But forget all of the marketing stuff around SketchUp. What's there, which is SketchUp's style of interface and modeling tools etc. will stay there (or they would have just made their own software from scratch). Isn't that what makes SketchUp so great? It's not like Google were the perfect people for the job! It's the great software that held everything together.

Both Trimble users I know (both spent an absolute fortune on Trimble stuff!) seem to love the company and it's products, which is a good sign too.

And yes, I'm glad it's not Autodesk.
