• RE: Hand vs. Computer Perspective Sketching White PaperPosted: M

A good read Jeff, thanks for the heads-up.

I've often wondered why 'very' loose freehand sketches appeal to my eye so much! I'm inclined to think that this type of presentation makes my brain work in a different way than it does while viewing a 'polished' presentation.

To understand / appreciate the loose sketch I have to do some visual investigation and I think I enjoy this. There is a certain satisfaction for me once I've scanned / investigated / viewed the total scene and then 'hopefully' understand all being presented. Its akin to view an abstract painting to a certain extent, not that I claim to grasp many of their meanings πŸ˜†

On the other hand, viewing a polished presentation that leaves little to investigation does not give me 'that' challenge and does not draw me in!

I think the 'Styles' in SketchUp go some way to delivery the 'loose' sketch effect and as this feature develops we might see more being developed along these lines.

Free Energy ! The guy behind it is Sean McCarthy
of Steorn Ltd a Dublin based company.

• Good program for Tutorial Production

Hi Guys,

I recently did some research on what was available
for Macs in the field of a tutorial and presentation
authoring software, something on the lines of Wink.
I posted the results on another thread, somewhere πŸ˜’

At the time I found a few programs but they were a
bit on the pricey side and probably overkill.

Well, as luck would have it, while I was checking
out the Apple site for updates I noticed a mention
of Screensteps.

Its a simple to use piece of software that allows
easy production of step by step tutorials which can
be saved / exported in PDF or HTML.

While its not free I feel the $40 price tag is
reasonable. Oh! even through it was probably written
for Macs they decided to do a Win version also πŸ˜†

Glad to see you are on-board Bert also looking forward
to seeing your avatar.

I do appreciate you spending time typing your posts and
I'm sure others are also. I take it that English is not
your native language ?

The more I think about it the more I see a need for a
variety of language forums. I really don't think it would
distract from the main forum, if anything it would
give non english speaker that have some difficulty with
english a chance to express their thoughts and ideas in
their native tongue.

It would be up to the english speakers to communicate
using web translators if we do not speak the actual
language in question ....... could be some fun AND we
might even learn a few new words along the way πŸ˜‰

I hope all the guys that have not yet placed

• MacBookAir has arived

Hi Guys,

The has been rumoured for the past year and now is reality. The MacBookAir is one very nice piece of kit for anyone that needs a laptop on the move.

The blurb goes,

Amazingly thin. Amazingly full-size.
The thinness of MacBook Air is stirring. But perhaps more impressive, there’s a full-size notebook encased in the 0.16 to 0.76 inch of sleek, sturdy anodized aluminum. And at just 3.0 pounds,1 MacBook Air is more than portable β€” it’s with you everywhere you go.

Check out the features here, http://www.apple.com/macbookair/design.html I particulary like the new Trackpad 'Gestues' feature.

That sounds bad Ross. I suppose I should not be complaining about
the rainy weather we are getting over here. Still today is not too
bad, just some light showers. The Sun even came out, was beginning to
forget what it looked like.
