    • RE: Octane.

I suppoes a thread talking about a render program can be moved wherever you want Richard. Are there any octane users here who can explain what the chuff is going on and if the export scripts work, possibly with some idea of the strengths and weaknesses please?
As far as I can tell it does not work with free but their forum is about as informative as a ten week dead frog, spatchcocked of course.

    • Octane.

OK, lots of talk with not too much in the way of information from the octane team. Demo, non-demo and stuff like exporting should be basic issues for interest but the interested party has to jump through hoops to get such basic knowledge.

For my ten pence worth (allow for inflatio here) they are not taking users of other software seriously, what is the problem? Does it work with sketchup free? Does the exporter work with free? Is the exporter only available when you purchase a license and if so why? Is there any intention of adding funcionality for sketchup free? If this is not the case why do they constantly refer to sketchup and not include the pro part of that title? The point of addressing the graphics card for rendering is interesting but to eliminate so many users from the potential client list would appear to be a bad mistake.

Right now, with my short experience of trying this software, it is not worth the price I have not paid for it and it shows the same disreguard developers of software have had for clients and potential clients the world over. It is past time this was addressed and dealt with. We have money to spend and the developers want that money and WE should be a lot more circumspect over who with and when we spend our money to get the right quality for our dosh.

    • RE: Food texture maps.

I am rendering with renditioner. The cg textures site is just pictures which are not suitable for mapping to a 3d object as far as I can see. I was hoping to map the texture to the model.
Even apples and oranges are something of a challenge as the majority of so called textures on the web are just images. I wish folk would not describe their images as textures, it just muddues the water for search engines. Thanks for the replies anyway folks.

    • Food texture maps.

Probably been aired before but, I could not find anything with a search. Yes, that old chestnut.

Does anyone know where there are some decent free food texture maps available without a masters in swahili and urdu cookery via bluetooth and radio ham setup, but only IF you can provide birth certificate of all of ghengis khans living grandparents. In quadruplicate and NOT via photocoppery.

No, not lost it yet, just extremely fed up with search engines returns for a simple word search. No idea what the couple in the last set of images were trying to do with that croissant but, I do hope it gave fully informed consent and was of majority.

    • RE: Softened and Hidden Lines problem getting ridiculous

We only really need one app, specifically an app to get the develpment team to listen to users and get to grips with the very basic problems in sketchup. Additional faces, issues with multiple plugins freezing the program, no functionaly reliable intersection tool etc et al.

Been at this point with other software and stopped using it, only at this point (not just me but many folk leaving) will the dev team actually listen. Most of the time the cries of users are drowned out by marketing types and beanie counters. Sad way to run a business.

    • Caterham 7 aero

A simple attempt to give a caterham 7 a bit of aerodynamic assistance. Not finished by any means and the current body may well change with a bit of tweaking here and there. No attempt to create an inlet for carbs or radiator as yet, that will come when I am happier with the main body aero.

"Also... I think that we SHOULD have a "Beating a Dead Horse" emoticon".

I think a vomiting toad would be sufficient actually.

It hardly matters what the logo is, the program itself is far more important.

    • RE: Sketchup 9 - a long wait.

I would hope that existing issues with sketchup (Known by everyone here so no need to repeat them) would be addressed before adding more features but it seems not to be. More and more I come to the conclusion that the core free edition should have proper fuctnionality and the pro should have the additional features to bring greater difference from the free version. Not suggesting that the free version should be dumbed down but if folk want more and more features they should buy a level of the pro version, this is done in many cad programs already and works well.

Really nice PR render, fantastic. Any chance you could share the file/model? No worries if not I reckon a few people would like the chance to see what their render engine could produce fom it is all. Really nice mate.

    • RE: Two Bed Town House Render

      Nice.

The door on the top floor (at the top of the stairs), looks like there is insufficient room to open fully. Thought of turning the door and section of wall 90 degrees? It would also provide some natural light for the stairs.

I think the brick texture could do with a bit of scaling.
