I just noticed that i left the textures off the front edges of the bottom two steps lol!

No big, it still looks good, but can anyone tell me how to increase the FOV of the render? Im trying to get a better shot of my foyer but i cant fit it all in without going through the ceiling of the room.

    • RE: Renders?

      My god thank you!!!
I found the plugin for SU that will export it to kerkythea, and with a few minutes of playing around i managed to produce a nice looking render of an unfinished model.
I was messing with my wood flooring texture (the stock one from SU) and i applied a reflective finish to it without thinking and it looks like a waxed wood floor!

I think its amazing, thank you so much! Here is the image i rendered, small size so it would take two days on my slow arse PC. This is the foyer of my house project without the walls painted or the front door put in place. Could use a better texture on the floor but its very nice:

You know, i think that will do nicely, thank you.
I imagine some creative thinking in there could get some things done quickly.

    • Terrain

Is there any good tutorials on crafting a piece of terrain to my liking?
I dont quite get how it works and a video or something of that sort would be nice.

The reason I would like to start trying my hand at putting together "areas" like you would find in a game.

    • RE: SketchyPhysics Alpha

I think i downloaded the wrong one... The only link I found seems to have no mention of any sort of new cool things. This (the one i downloaded) seems to be the same as what I had before. 😳

      Can anyone lend a hand?

Thats what im saying, learn the hard way first so you can understand how its done. That way if there is a problem you understand what us going on with the model and have an idea of where to look.

    • RE: Need some roof help.

nah i dont need that much help, i had a roof on there, i just didnt like it, the one using the script looks good enough for me.

I know how to create a roof, just not too good at making one that works well with the house.
Anyways, its done now, Im gonna do a little work to it to get it to look right though.

      Thanks for the help.

    • RE: Need some roof help.

Did you add another face to the top to get the script to work on it? I cant do it all at once cuz every option says either select one face of select a rectangle.

yeah that roof script doesnt work on this thing, unless i raise the walls 1/4 inch and make a solid face across everything.

    • RE: Need some roof help.

Heres my overly complex roof. All those lines through there are just the interior walls, no sense to model over them if you cant see them.

Ive been trying to keep the file size down and i think ive done a decent job of it anyways.

let me bust out photoshop to put the images together, stupid paint just doesnt cut it.
To be honest, ive never used a script, but im willing to try it out.

As for pitch/overhang etc, have a look at the concept on this page:
      http://www.houseplans.com/plans/e/312-266e-3169.jpg

Since thats the house im sort of attempting. and yes i know there is a couple things missing.

    • Need some roof help.

So, in my architecture class back in highschool, the teacher showed me a way to put a roof on damn near anything. The problem with it is that the roof i have right now, I dont like, it just doesnt look right.

Here is the house without a roof:
      http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=8643a87ef564d14f285663b602a605b9

What i have on it now looks rather lame i think.
      Perhaps some help with it?

OH! Note that every top surface needs some roof, there is not second floor balcony or anything.

Thank you for the reminder, to be perfectly honest I hadnt even thought to do that. There is a couple things I have been reading and apparently I dont have enough sense to figure out a way to not have to hunt them down. 😳

Good job so far (and good luck on the rest) moving all the posts!

    • RE: Getting a new monitor, may need new card...

Well I have the monitor... And from what it seems, i can display 1440x900. At least the nvidea tools let me set it without any problem. SO I guess the 5500 series cards can handle widescreen? Oh well, im off to see if i can fix some issues with small text. Im not used to running 1440x900. It seems like it is tryign to display half pixels almost on some of the text... particularly in the address bar on FF. It makes parts of the letter appear in a bold white while other parts of the same letter seem faded out. Maybe I am not really at 1440x900? You woul think it would display fine, or is this an issue you guys have came across?

On the other hand SU is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better like this. I have all my toolbars on the right hand side like how I have photoshop set up:

Sawduster, I believe I found you on another forum:
      http://www.woodworking.com/dcforum/DCForumID9/7283.html
I was browsing some sites and found that forum, then the second I saw some SU mockups I spent about 10 minutes looking for the register button... Still have not gotten my email and password yet though.
